Joni Mitchell has Grammys audience in tears with stunning performance at 80
Joni Mitchell, the 80-year-old music legend, performed at the Grammy Awards for the first time in her 56-year career.
Brandi Carlile introduced her, praising Joni's influence on music and calling her the "matriarch of imagination". Brandi said: "Whether we know it or not any one of us who dreamed of being a self-revealing singer-songwriter...is standing on the shoulders of Joni Mitchell."
She added: "She's like the first person to strip down at a skinny dipping party who strips down and makes that terrifying leap." Brandi also shared that the 80-year-old had gone through various health issues like her brain aneurysm years ago and that she learned to walk three times.

Joni, who won Best Folk Album this year, her twelfth Grammy, sang Both Sides Now from a Royal golden chair. Celebrities like Meryl Streep, Beyonce, and Dua Lipa watched her performance, which ended with a standing ovation.
