Reform vows to ban foreign nationals from claiming benefits in £21bn welfare overhaul

Reform has vowed to ban all foreign nationals from claiming benefits in a new plan to slash the ballooning £50billion welfare bill.

The party’s Treasury spokesman Robert Jenrick revealed Nigel Farage’s party would redesign welfare and save more than £21billion a year within five years.

He has outlined plans to cut entitlements to Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Pension Credit, Jobseeker’s Allowance, Child Benefit, free childcare and disability benefits if Mr Farage wins the keys to No10 at the next election.

The ban for foreign nationals includes European Union nationals who already have settled status in the UK.

To do so, officials would be forced to renoegotiating Britain’s current Brexit deal with Brussels.

Mr Jenrick said: "Forcing British workers to pay for the benefits of foreigners is not just economically illiterate but plain immoral.

"People are more than happy to support their neighbours in hard times, but the British taxpayer cannot afford to subsidise everyone on the planet, especially those who have not paid in.

"The public have been crying out for this change for decades. Unlike the two old parties, Reform will deliver a system that’s fair for the British people."
