Prince Naseem Hamed's son uses Conor McGregor's trademark phrase after debut

Conor McGregor has expressed his delight over Prince Naseem Hamed's son using his famous "not here to take part" catchphrase after winning his professional debut last night.

McGregor was a super-fan of Hamed's as a child, and insisted that he would show the footage to his own son Conor Jr as he continues to learn about fighting while growing up. The younger Hamed landed a first round knockout against Vojtech Hrdy on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois before being interviewed in the ring.

There, he dropped the Irishman's famous line, insisting that he is "not here to take part, but here to take over" while speaking with host Michelle Joy Phelps. The youngster appears to have his father's gift of gab, launching into an heated promo about what's to come from his professional career after the win.

"That was my first fight ever, not just my pro debut and it was a blessing to be here in front of everyone," Hamed said. "What a night; I felt like I put on a performance and it's going to get bigger and better from here. I like to hurt people, I'm not in there to tip and tap, I want to get people out of there.

"They are always going to say what they want, I just need to do my best to take no notice and do me. This is just a stepping stone to where I want to get to. I'm very passionate about this game, I don't look at it as a hobby. I'm not here to take part, I'm here to take over. I want to be as active as possible and hopefully get one or two more fights in this year."

McGregor was clearly overjoyed with the message, tweeting his support to his 10million+ followers: "I am going to show this to my son Conor Jr, and tell him that this is the son of the man who inspired me to become I who I became, and now he is leading the way of his fathers legacy! God bless the Hamed’s! Well done Aadam! #WeAreNotHereToTakePart."

The Irishman is currently in training for his own UFC comeback after over two years out of action with a broken leg. He has jetted off to Cannes with his teammates including Ciaran Clarke, Lee Hammond, Kiefer Crosbie and Cian Cowley for a special training camp as he attempts to save his December date with Michael Chandler.
