Paddy Pimblett has admitted he will probably have to run back his controversial fight with Jared Gordon after being handed a points win which angered fans and experts.

The Liverpool fighter insisted after his win over Gordon that the fight wasn't all that close, despite many feeling that he had lost the first and third rounds. And he doubled down during his post-fight press conference, declaring that he had done enough in the first two rounds and that he would be moving on.

But during a recent podcast interview with legendary former welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre, Pimblett admitted that he wasn't at his best on the night. And he even noted that the pair may have to "run it back" after he undergoes surgery and Gordon takes on Bobby Green in April.

"Obviously, my last performance wasn't the greatest," Pimblett admitted while asking the Canadian for advice. "This is the first podcast I've done since, my last performance wasn't the best. I didn't look half as good as I think I am in that fight and a lot of people think I lost.

"I'm seeing things online constantly saying 'he lost, it was a robbery,' this and that. I've had to just stay away from social media because I can't get involved in it, a lot of people think I lost. I'll be honest, I don't really know that well how to handle it so I thought I'd ask you because you have more experience than I'll ever have."

St-Pierre offered advice based on his history of dealing with losses and controversies inside the octagon, including one particularly embarrassing knockout defeat to Matt Serra which he redeemed. He also had a similarly controversial win over Johnny Hendricks, which many felt he had lost.

And Pimblett even admitted his camp hadn't been an issue, nor had any of his preparation, which St-Pierre identified as a problem area in his less impressive results. He responded to the advice by adding: "The last camp was great, I felt like I was brilliant going into it.

"My diet was on point, everything was perfect. The only thing I can say is when I kicked him in the first round I actually have to get surgery on March 7 on my foot. But I can't blame my foot on getting punched in the face a lot... I feel like he had the best performance he's had and I didn't perform to my full potential.

"But in the future we could have to run that back, I can see he's already got a fight booked with Bobby Green. But I won't be able to fight until the back end of the year anyway after this surgery so we'll see how it unfolds." He later branded the bout as his "least favourite fight".
