It's less than ideal when your toilet starts to look unsightly due to limescale, and sometimes, it's the rim of the loo where the jet washers don't quite reach that looks the worst. And, it can annoyingly interfere with the flow of the water, making your loo look rusty and gross. It can also be even worse if you live in a hard water area.

But thankfully, Sophie Harris from the Express has shared how she managed to get her toilet gleaming and good-as-new with one product - and she posted the before and after pictures to prove how effective the product is.

To try and tackle the unsightly rim of the toilet, Sophie opted for her Harpic Power Plus Toilet Cleaner, which can be purchased for £1.30 from Tesco, and is always recommended by cleaning enthusiasts online. After using it, she was really pleased with the results. The product claims that it's "10 times better than bleach on limescale removal", and it "gets rid of germs, even ones you can't see", which is ideal.

Sophie explained that she "put the product around the toilet rim and left it for around five minutes before giving it a good scrub" to get rid of all the grime. And some of the limescale was "instantly" removed, but some stubborn limescale remained, so she put an extra squeeze of the product in the toilet to ensure it was all banished.

She shared: "This time I decided to leave it for 20 minutes to see how much would come away and after scrubbing with a bristle brush, all of the limescale had dissolved, leaving the toilet sparkling. The cleaning of the toilet rim didn't require any elbow grease at all with the cleaning product and I can see why it is so popular amongst the online cleaning community."

Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one user wrote: "I've moved into a new house and my toilet is covered in limescale. I've tried various products but they don't seem to be working, any tips?" And unsurprisingly, many of the recommendations were the Harpic Power Plus product.

One user wrote: "Use Harpic Power Plus, leave it overnight. It will take a while but it does work to melt away the limescale." Another said: "Harpic Power Plus is by far the best. Use it three to four times a day until the tough limescale is gone."
