Turkish Airlines Boeing 777 experiences chaos as turbulence throws bags around the cabin, leaving 7 people injured

Two crew members and around five passengers were left injured as horror turbulence hit the plane - while two others were taken to hospital for further treatment

Horrifying footage from inside a Boeing 777 captures the moment food trolleys and passengers’ belongings are flung across the cabin as the plane is hit with violent turbulence - leaving 7 people injured.

The Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300 had left Istanbul airport at 4:59 p.m on September 5. It was taking 17 crew members and 214 passengers from Istanbul to Taipei, Taiwan, but encountered horror turbulence mid-air, before landing at Taoyuan International Airport at 6:01 p.m.

Two crew members and about five passengers were left injured during the turbulence, while two others were taken to hospital for treatment. The remaining injured passengers and crew did not want to be sent to the hospital, and instead left with other passengers through customs.

A fire brigade was immediately dispatched after Taoyuan Airport received an alert at 4:59pm that flight TK24 - which was scheduled to land at 5:55pm - had encountered turbulence and required airport rescue support, mediadrumworld.com reports.

According to official reports: “Multiple ambulances and emergency medical personnel were on standby at the scene. The duty officer Official commanded the airport company’s initial response team and, at the same time, notified the Chinese Inspection and Quarantine (CIQS) customs clearance unit to prepare passenger customs clearance matters.

‌“After the aircraft landed, Lianxin personnel immediately conducted injury examination and first aid operations. The aircraft remained on the ground for about four hours before departing on schedule for its return flight.”

In May of this year, a Boeing 777 jet, bound for Singapore, was forced to make an emergency landing in Thailand after being hit with deadly turbulence as the cabin crew loaded breakfast trolleys and begun serving hot meals to passengers.

The plane was said to have suddenly plunged thousands of feet, with passengers and cabin crew sent flying across the cabin.

In-flight meals were strewn across the floor, while several passengers were left covered in blood after being flung by the horror turbulence. British national, Geoffrey Kitchen, 73, from Thornbury, Gloucestershire, near Bristol, tragically died onboard after reportedly suffering a heart attack.
