Everyone has thought about their dream proposal, but yours likely doesn't involve a supermarket.

Whether it's something low-key and romantic in a park with a picnic, or a lavish Santorini moment with views of the sea, everyone pops the question differently. But one proposal has got tongues wagging after a Tesco employee decided to get down on one knee at the self-service checkouts.

Sandra Lee, 47, was shopping with her partner Michael Ward, 41, when he decided to get down on one knee at his place of work. In the video, Tesco employee Michael can be seen helping Sandra scan a box of chocolates and several bouquets of flowers, which she thought were being pictured for a promotional ad in the store.

However, when Michael dropped down on one knee asking if Sandra would marry him, she was visibly shocked. His bride-to-be adored the quirky proposal, but the video has divided opinion after it went viral on TikTok with a whopping three million views.

Some didn't find the proposal very romantic, but Sandra loved it, and was "shocked and totally taken by surprise". She admitted that "when it sank in" she felt "thrilled" about the proposal. "He picked Tesco so I wouldn't be suspicious of anything", she admitted.

In the clip, Sandra looks stunned, even needing to take a moment to lean back and sit on the checkout counter as she takes in the fantastic news. She can be heard asking: "Is this real? Oh my god!" Eventually, Sandra gleefully accepted the proposal, and the two shared a sweet embrace in front of the tills.

But some viewers were unsure.. One joked: "Can't imagine anything more romantic than a proposal and a meal deal", with someone else penning: "I'd say no to such a proposal even if I loved that person."

Another wrote: "I just want to know what other locations he considered that lost to this." "Why Tesco?", one TikTok user asked. And someone else quipped: "Did he use his Clubcard to get the ring?"

Others found the proposal sweet, with some dubbing it "romantic" and "absolute class". One commenter wrote: "It's funny everyone judging but you seriously have no idea if this proposal means something to them."

Hitting back at the negative comments, Sandra said she is "incredibly happy with the proposal", and insisted that people should "never give up on love" because "it took 46 years" for her to meet her "forever person". "What's for you won't go past you", she gushed.
