Megan McKenna stepped out at The Pride of Britain Awards with fiancé Oliver Burke after burning her face in a freak accident.

The 31-year-old headed to the annual ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House on Sunday accompanied by the Birmingham City footballer, and her scars from the terrifying accident which occurred last month were barely noticeable. Megan’s dress was inspired by the 90s, and she was even sweetly coordinated with Oliver in black and green outfits. The former The Only Way Is Essex star rocked a corseted mini dress, which featured glove-style sleeves and a see-through skirt which flowed down into a chic train.

Megan and Oliver also shared a steamy kiss while on the red carpet, and the footballer looked dapper in a satin dark khaki suit, which matched his fiancee’s corset. He finished off his edgy outfit with a black vest underneath the blazer, black shoes, and simply accessorised by having his extensive tattoos on show. The singer’s hair, which was in an updo, hid any scarring from the freak accident that she shared in a post on Instagram last month.

Describing the incident, she told her fans she couldn’t believe how she ended up being injured, and revealed she was left injured due to scalding hot gravy. Megan said her mother Tanya tripped over her dog Daisy, and the gravy spilled out of the jug and onto the TV star’s head. “On the weekend, I was at my mum’s and we were having dinner and she walked over with the gravy pot. Daisy (the dog) got underneath her feet, she tripped over Daisy, grabbed the gravy pot but the gravy inside flopped out and landed on my head Honestly, you can’t even write it. It’s obviously caught the side of my face,” she explained.

“It looks so much better now, it’s in the healing process, so it’s a little bit rank. It’s on my nose. I’ve got a huge blister behind my ear. My ear feels like it’s hanging off,” Megan added. Running to her aid, she said her mum and sister ran her head under a cold tap for 30 minutes, which prevented any serious injuries. “If (they had not done that) I don't know what it would have looked like. It was a couple of hours of stress." She shared her scars, visible on the side of her head and ear, but joked she hasn’t been put off gravy. “I'm on the mend and it's all good - and I still love gravy,” Megan laughed.

The Daily Mirror Pride Of Britain Awards With TSB this evening will be hosted by Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo, with the two stars recently sharing their excitement at teaming up once again for the 24th annual event. Carol has fronted the awards ever since 1999, with Dancing On Ice judge Ashley joining her side in 2021. The duo first met and formed a friendship thanks to Carol taking part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2016 alongside Ashley’s brother Jordan – and they’ve grown closer ever since.

“It just feels unique. You see the weight and the gravity of how the night affects not just the winners but everyone in the room. I look forward to it every year. It’s a real honour to get to do it,” Ashley said ahead of hosting the awards this evening, with Carol adding: “It’s just this sort of goodness that’s in the room that you rarely come across as a feeling. It’s gentle, kind and it’s all of the things that we want our lives to be.”
