My Mum Your Dad contestant leaves fans in tears as he opens up on wife's death

A My Mum Your Dad contestant had viewers in tears as he emotionally opened up on the death of his wife.

Postman Roger appeared on the new ITV dating show in the search for love. However, viewers were stunned to find out his wife had died a year ago. Roger went on a date with single mum Caroline on the show, where he opened up about his late wife. During the date, he shared: "She had breast cancer about three or four years ago and she got over that and we thought 'brilliant'. And then we were on holiday in Italy and I just looked behind her ear and it was irritating her, just a little spot behind her ear.

"And I said 'you need to get that checked Jo when we get back'. And she did and she got seen to really quick, and it was melanoma but she didn't know at that time that the cancer had gone to her brain. She said 'I'm very tired', I said 'come on I will put you to bed or do you want to go on the settee?'. And she says 'put me on settee'. And then I come in about half an hour later, and I should have just phoned for an ambulance straight away. And she basically never woke up again."

Roger opened up about the heartbreaking experience on his date with Caroline (ITV)

Caroline was left in tears as Roger opened up to her. Viewers at home were also touched by the emotional scene as one said: "Roger making me cry here #MyMumYourDad." Another added: "What a great fella, absolutely heartbreaking. Roger seems like he deserves some happiness." Someone else wrote: "I am crying my eyes out. I wasn’t prepared for this show to do this to me. Wow #MyMumYourDad."

A fourth fan commented: "Think Caroline was the best person for Rodger , she's lovely #MyMumYourDad," while another added: "Bless Roger and his daughters." The 58-year-old appeared on the show with his daughter Jess, 28. Speaking on appearing on My Mum Your Dad, Roger shared: "Following my wife passing 18 months ago, I didn’t really want to meet anyone. But I’m going on the show to get some confidence. I know I’m laying myself bare."

Jess added: "My brother and sister and I wanted to tell him that we were happy for him to start dating. He’s funny, handsome and caring. He needs someone with a sense of humour." The new dating show sees nine single parents nominated by their grown-up kids confront their fears and find love, while their offspring secretly pull the strings. TV presenter Davina McCall not only thought up the idea bit pitched it to telly execs too. She has already impressed viewers with the new show, as they gushed over her as she kicked off the series on Monday night.
