Antiques Roadshow left guests gasping on Sunday's episode as they learnt the value of an incredible piece of John Lennon memorabilia.

During the latest episode, one guest discovered how much money a house number of The Beatles star's childhood home was worth by expert Raj Bisram. The guest said: "This is the number to John Lennon's childhood home", which left Raj, as well as the audience, speechless as they shouted "Wow".

Explaining how he acquired the memorabilia, the guest said: "In 1965 when John Lennon's family decided to sell their home, a couple bought it and moved in for just a couple of months. They sold it and moved on. Then the next couple who bought it, they didn't tell them that it was John Lennon's house, so they moved in.

"They were having breakfast one morning, opened the curtains, and there were five people in their garden taking photographs - that was when they realised they lived in John Lennon's house." The guest added that the couple didn't like The Beatles "very much" and lived in the property for 36 years, although spent most of that time "chasing people out of their garden".

The guest continued: "But the interesting thing about that story for me is that the person who lived there was my uncle. So I was one of the few Beatles fans that got into that house for about 36 years." He added that when his uncle was making changes to the gate, he gave him the old number plate.

Raj was left amazed over the item and story, the expert said: "An iconic item, we are talking about one of the greatest bands in the world, ever, this is the house number. It's a great item." Raj asked if the guest had thought about selling it but the owner insisted: "I've never thought about selling it, and to be honest, I don't think I would. I just like having it in the family."

However, Raj admitted he might change his mind if he learnt the true value. The expert said: "Well, you might think differently when I give you an idea of what it's worth... if that was put into a specialist Beatles sale, it would make £5,000 to £8,000 easily, but it could double that, it really could double that." The guest, as well as the audience, were left gasping at the figure. Raj added: "I think this is a great little piece of Beatles memorabilia, fantastic, thank you for bringing it in."
