A woman struck gold after taking a gamble by buying a mystery John Lewis returns pallet, and she swiftly realised that she'd 'hit the jackpot' with what was inside. Spending £120 on the box, YouTuber Emily Canham couldn't believe what she found, as it's always risky buying mystery boxes of returned goods.

Products that are returned to the store end up in these pallets, and John Lewis is just one of the retail stores that offer the mystery boxes, with the bonus that they are able to offload the unwanted stock to savvy shoppers - many of whom re-sell the goods at a much higher price.

John Lewis auction the boxes off, with the disclaimer some of the items may be faulty and need fixing professionally, but shoppers are happy to chance it to see what they get, and much to Emily's delight and shock she was rewarded with lots of expensive products.

For less than ten percent of the RRP of what's inside, Emily, as well other YouTubers and TikTokers, will video their 'unboxing' and share what they got - from coffee machines to hair electricals and Dyson's.

Claiming she buys one of these pallets every year, she knows it's always a gamble but was left blown away when she pulled out her 'favourite' GHD hair curlers and a GHD travel hairdryer, explaining the curlers are worth around £120 alone: "It literally looks like it hasn't been taken out the box and it also says it's been tested. So I guess it works!"

As well as the hair products, Emily also excitedly pulled out a huge Nespresso box, "this has definitely been used," she added, but didn't seem to mind, with a Lavazza milk frother she said 'retails for £69-ish' and a DeLonghi coffee machine too.

Then she launched out a Shark air purifier as she said: "This is massive, it's passed so it works…These retail from about £80 to £120 we've found. This could be something that I genuinely use day to day."

Other goodies in the pallet included a BaByliss curling wand, a BaByliss men's hair clipper, and two brand new Tefal irons – worth about £150 each as well as a heated blanket which Emily was extremely excited about as she said: "I've always wanted a heated blanket."

Inspiring others to buy a mystery pallet, one YouTube fan wrote: "The joy on your face throughout this video was seriously the best! I've always wanted to buy a return pallet but just haven't gotten around to it. Loved the video" Another commented: "This returns pallet is soo good! I can't believe pretty much everything works as well."
