A woman got the fright of her life after coming across a "cursed doll" when bargain hunting at an estate sale. She explained how she ventured down to the basement to see whether there were any hidden treasures down there - but came running back up the stairs shortly after.

The bargain hunter came across a long black box tied shut with string - and against her better judgement, she decided to open it. That's when she came face-to-face with a "cursed doll" with a pale complexion, shocked expression and wearing a white shirt and a patterned purple skirt. She said on Reddit: "Found in a basement at an estate sale. It was in a black box tied shut and someone (maybe the person who made it) carved their name on the back of its neck.

"I did not buy it - I prefer to stay not cursed. It costs $10.50 (£8.57) but she eats your soul for free."

While most users questioned why anybody would spend $10.50 on the doll, others urged to woman to leave the house and never go back.

One user said: "That thing probably comes to life around midnight or so."

Another added: "Officially agreeing with all of the 'kill it with fire' comments. Salt it before you burn it. Just to err on the side of caution."

A third agreed: "Do you want a haunting? Because that's how you get a haunting!"

While a fourth asked: "Seriously though, this looks like some bad hoodoo. Hope you didn't touch it?"

It comes after a woman discovered a secret cellar in her house - claiming she knew nothing about it when she moved in.

The woman went down into the cellar to see what was lurking inside - and was "surprised" to discover the room was packed out with jars full of liquid.

While she'd like to know how long they've been stashed in there, she has no interest in opening them up to investigate further.

Sharing her discovery on Reddit, one user explained: "My friend decided to replace her old carpet and she found a cellar door and a cool surprise."

In response, another replied: "Best thing to do in that situation is just put the old carpet back and forget it ever happened."

A third user added: "This is really cool, but my first thought would be 'Spiders, spiders everywhere'."

Another joked: "There's a 30 per cent chance a body is down there, and like a 70 per cent chance there's a ghost."

One more user added: "So your friend owns a house where she was unaware it had a basement? I'd demand my money back from the inspector for missing this."
