Movies like Barbie and Oppenheimer have been on everyone's mind these past few weeks, but the latest horror movie to hit theatres has been called "one of the most unsettling and well-paced horror movies" ever, according to some fans.

The horror flick premiered on Friday and has earned over $10 million globally during its opening weekend, A24's best start for a film since they released Midsommar in July 2019. So far, Talk To Me is the highest-rated horror movie of 2023, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 95%. Fans are flocking to social media to share their thoughts and horror about the A24 film.

One Twitter user said the movie is "genuinely terrifying and [has] an absolutely killer ending."

"I can't remember the last time a movie made me want to leave from the sheer anxiety/tension," another user wrote. And another tweeter described their feelings after leaving the movie as: "gooped, gagged, scared, and speechless."

Talk To Me is the first feature film directed by Michael and Danny Philippou. The Australian-made movie stars Sophie Wilde as Mia, a teenage girl who along with her group of friends discovers they can talk to spirits using an embalmed hand. They get addicted to the game, but eventually accidentally unleash evil spirits into their world.

Twitter isn't the only site where fans are raving about the film. One reviewer on Letterboxd wrote: "I haven't left the theater feeling that scarred and violated in a while, kinda missed this feeling."

Some people are using social media to praise the lead actress, Sophie Wilde, calling her "unstoppable." This film was her first feature film debut, but definitely won't be her last foray into film after the hype of Talk To Me. Besides being a terrifying movie, fans seem to love it because it brings something "original" to the horror genre. "This is horror movie's year," one fan wrote.

"I am literally still sitting here processing everything," one person wrote on Twitter, "This is my new hyper fixation and I literally am so excited for more people to watch something so original and refreshing within the horror genre."
