Horror movie fans have been left absolutely baffled, yet in awe, after seeing the trailer for a new comedy horror film called Slotherhouse. The film, which is being released in UK cinemas on August 30, is not like other horror flicks you might have seen.

A horror film is usually fast paced, with victims scrambling around to get away from a deranged killer with an axe - but in this case the villain is a sloth - an animal known for being slow and lazy. The film centres around college student Emily Young (played by Lisa Ambalavanar), who adopts an adorable sloth named Alpha, who she hopes will help her become president of her sorority Sigma Lambda.

However, when bodies slowly start beginning to pile up in the Sigma Lambda house, Emily and her sorority sisters soon realise Alpha isn't your run-of-the mill sloth. Although moving painfully slowly the cuddly sloth is bloodthirsty - and has razor-sharp claws. And suddenly the tagline "don't rush, die slow", makes sense.

"Will Emily and her sisters escape the house with their lives? Or is this death-sloth with 3 razor sharp claws too quick for them?" This is how the synopsis concludes.

A third commented: "Omigosh this looks hilarious!" "That looks so bad. I can't wait," said another. "This made my day you cannot outrun a fkin sloth. Fact!," said a fifth.

However, others suggested this is what happens when there's a writer's strike in Hollywood. One person wrote: "We are literally at a point in time where the old gag movies they'd come up with to use in cheesy shows are ACTUALLY being made." Another added: "There's a writer's strike? I couldn't tell."

Slotherhouse is directed by Matthew Goodhue and stars Lisa Ambalavanar, Sydney Craven, Olivia Rouyre, Bianca Beckles-Rose, Andrew Horton, Sutter Nolan, Grace Patterson, Milica Vrzić, Annamaria Serda, Rudi Rok, Tiff Stevenson, Stefan Kapičić, and Kelly Lynn Reiter.
