Gardening expert's boozy hack to stop slugs 'wreaking havoc' on your lawn

As the days have gotten longer, and we're dreaming of the sun shining more often, your attention may turn to your garden, and you're probably thinking about all the lovely blooms you're going to plant in the upcoming weeks.
But there are pesky creatures that may wreak havoc on your plants, and one gardening expert has shared a boozy hack which will stop them from eating leaves for their lunch all summer long.
Troy Bilt, who posts his gardening tips on TikTok under username @troybiltofficial, shared a "handy little trap" that is "irresistible to slugs and will lure them to their deaths."
Troy claimed that "slugs love beer", stating that all you need to do is take an aluminum can, bury it near ground level in the soil near the plants you're trying to protect, and "pour in a little beer, but not too much."
He recommended an "inch or two", as "any more than that would just be a waste." At the end of the video, he raises his can and says "cheers slugs."

According to Gardening Know-How, slugs like warm areas. They wrote: "These slimy members of the mollusk phylum like moist soil and warm temperatures. They generally feed at night and target young seedlings. During the day, slugs like to hide under mulches and in wormholes, so handpicking these intruders is difficult. Tilling and cultivating destroy their hiding places, but this can dry out the soil and damage plant roots.
"Many gardeners swear using beer as a slug trap is one home remedy that really does work. Slugs are attracted to the yeasty odors found in beer. In fact, they love it so much they crawl into containers with beer and drown."
In the comments of the TikTok video, one keen gardener joked: "Alcohol solves every problem. For every problem, there is one solution (alcohol)."
Some beers can be bought from as little as 99p in certain supermarkets.
