Choosing a name for your baby is one of the biggest decisions any expecting parent has to make, and while it's a personal choice, others will always have an opinion.

But what would you do if you found the perfect moniker, only to be told it sounds similar to a rather unfortunate company name? This was the reality for one mum who has been left "devastated" after realising her beloved idea is the same name as a popular laxative brand.

The mum -to-be "dreamt" about the name about for years, but now she's reluctantly looking for other options after the disaster realisation.

She took to Reddit to ask others if it's a bad idea to keep the name, and in an anonymous post, wrote: "My husband and I have wanted to name our child Senna after Ayrton Senna the iconic F1 driver for years. We have always loved it and dreamt about it. He was actually the one that brought it up as an option where he had never truly liked any baby names before."

She emphasised how much she loved the name, but revealed she's just found out it's also the name of the laxative brand thanks to TikTok. She added: "[I] just found out via TikTok that it's the name of a laxative. I'm feeling absolutely devastated, and still unsure if I should change it. I have had some friends say yeah maybe not, and others say who cares I had no idea and not everyone is a nurse or a doctor. Still, I am not sure. There ARE people named Senna. And I love it. How bad is it?"

The mum then revealed she's open to suggestions from others, but shared that she's a teacher and a "lot of similar but more common names are a no-go" because of experiences with past students. She also clarified thatSienna is off the cards.

In true Reddit style, people were quick to chime in with their opinions. One person brutally wrote: "It's REALLY REALLY bad*. Sorry. *unless you live in the Netherlands, where apparently Senna is a pretty normal name," and another wrote: "For me, it would be a dealbreaker, but I guess it depends how common it is as a medication in your country."

However others didn't think it was an issue as one person penned: "I'm not on TikTok, but I've never heard of Senna as a laxative. The only laxative I know is ex-lax or cascara. I'd probably mishear it as Sienna, though," and a second echoed: "I'm the minority but I like it and it doesn't bother me…although I liked the name before I knew it was a laxative."
