Hospital on lockdown after 'stabbing' on ward as police rush to scene
Police in Edinburgh locked down a hospital after reports of a 'stabbing' on a ward.
Emergency services rushed to the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in Morningside on Friday night (February 9) following reports of a serious assault. A man is understood to have been slashed on a ward.
The incident took place on Tipperlinn Road as a 30-year-old man received treatment at the hospital before being transported to the Royal Infirmary.
A 53-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, February 12, reports Edinburgh Live.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.25pm on Friday, 9 February, 2024 officers were called to reports of a serious assault at Tipperlinn Road, Edinburgh. A 30-year-old man received treatment at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.
