There's just over a week remaining of the January transfer window, giving Premier League clubs a race against time to bolster their squads.

Arsenal have had a quiet month so far but the Gunners are reportedly still chasing long-term target Martin Zubimendi in the hope of sealing a late swoop. Brentford striker Ivan Toney could also still be on the move, as could Newcastle captain Kieran Trippier, although it has been reported that German giants Bayern Munich will NOT sign the right-back this month.

Newcastle are also set to offload Miguel Almiron to Saudi Arabia in a deal which would help balance the books at St James' Park. Sticking with the Magpies, Callum Wilson is also a potential departee who has been linked with Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Stay tuned to Mirror Football throughout Thursday as the window heats up...

Phillips completes medical

Sky Sports have reported that Kalvin Phillips has completed his medical ahead of a loan move to West Ham.

The Man City star has spent the majority of his Etihad career sat on the bench and he wants more minutes to bolster his chances of making England's Euro 2024 squad this summer.

Antony agent dismisses exit plan

The agent of Brazilian winger Antony has confirmed the former Ajax winger is not focusing on a move away for the time being. Speaking to United In Focus, Junior Pedroso said: "Manchester has so far not communicated any interest in transferring him in either the January or summer window.

"Antony is focused on these four months of the season so he can improve his performance, knowing that he needs to score goals and assists. This is his focus. Today our head is on Manchester United.

"He knows very well that he needs to score, there’s no point in just playing good games, he has to score goals and provide assists. He is very coherent about this. He will come back different, his head has become a little key and certainly in these four months he will show much more than he showed this season."

Isco attracting interest from Saudi Arabia

Former Real Madrid star Isco has impressed at Real Betis, so much so that there appears to be big-money interest from the Saudi Pro League.

According to L'Equipe (via Get French Football News), contact has been made over a move for the Spain international, who only joined Betis in July.

Isco, 31, has five goals in La Liga this season after joining from neighbours Sevilla, netting twice against Barcelona in his team's last league outing.

Liverpool in Kimmich hunt

The German international is in the final 18 months of his contract at Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga side do not want to lose him in the manner that saw Toni Kroos arrive at Real Madrid. SportBild has reported that both Liverpool and Manchester City are interested in making a move for Kimmich, just days after Newcastle United were linked with a move for the midfielder.

Pep Guardiola worked with the versatile 28-year-old during his time at the Allianz arena while the Reds have recently seen success in negotiating with Bayern to land Ryan Gravenberch. Liverpool are said to have registered their interest, with Thomas Tuchel perhaps looking for something different in the centre of midfield.

Ratcliffe's £100m plan

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already made sweeping changes at Old Trafford since agreeing to buy a minority stake in United from the Glazers for £1.3billion, a deal that still needs to be ratified by the Premier League. More could follow as part of a £100m fire sale.

Academy graduate Mason Greenwood is among those who could be jettisoned. He has been linked with a sensational switch to Barcelona during his loan spell with fellow Spanish side Getafe.

The likes of Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Antony have also all been listed as saleable assets by Ratcliffe. Casemiro and Wan-Bissaka have both been linked with permanent exits to Saudi side Al-Nassr this month.

That's all from us tonight

Thanks for staying with Mirror Football for all your transfer updates tonight.

We'll be back tomorrow morning with all the latest, so be sure to join us then.

This time next week we'll be watching the final few deals of the window go through, so there's likely to be plenty of action between now and then.

See you in the morning!

Bayern find alternative after missing out on Trippier

Bayern Munich are looking at French defender Sacha Boey after cooling their interest in Kieran Trippier, according to Sky Germany.

Boey, 23, has been at Galatasaray since 2021 after starting his career in his homeland with Rennes.

The full-back played every minute of the Turkish side's Champions League campaign, which included home and away defeats against Thomas Tuchel's Bayern.

Could West Ham follow Phillips deal by moving for Wilson?

Kalvin Phillips might not be the only England international heading to West Ham in January.

According to HITC, the Hammers are interested in Callum Wilson amid suggestions Newcastle may need to sell a first teamer or two this month.

Wilson has an impressive scoring record against the London side, both for Newcastle and for previous club Bournemouth.

Whether that translates into a move to East London is another matter altogether, of course.

Gallagher Chelsea exit can't be ruled out

Chelsea will 'definitely consider' an appropriate offer for Conor Gallagher if one arrives between now and the end of the window, according to The Athletic and Sky Sports News.

Midfield star Gallagher has captained the Blues on multiple occasions this season, but his contract situation means his future isn't completely assured at Stamford Bridge.

It has been suggested it would take a big bid to twist the Blues' arm, though, and it's unclear whether any of his suitors are ready to meet Chelsea's demands in the current window.

DONE DEAL: Defender Savage leaves Newcastle

Remi Savage has completed a permanent move away from Newcastle United, joining Scottish side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The 22-year-old hasn't made a senior appearance for Newcastle this term but was involved in their Under-21 side's EFL Trophy campaign.

Inverness are managed by former Scotland striker Duncan Ferguson, who spent two years with Newcastle as a player.

West Ham in Jota mix as Al-Ittihad eye solution

Al Ittihad are trying to find a solution for former Celtic winger Jota in the coming days.

The 24-year-old, who has not played in the Saudi Pro League since September due to ineligibility, has already rejected the chance to join Al Ettifaq on loan after a deal was agreed between the two clubs.

West Ham have shown interest and could now be ones to watch - particularly given Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma are facing uncertain futures in east London.

Betis are looking into a deal for Fornals - likely to be an initial loan - while Benrahma was the subject of a rejected loan bid from Marseille that included a permanent transfer option.

Al Ittihad are willing to accept a loan which could suit West Ham, though other Premier League clubs including Wolves are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

Vermeeren watching new club Atleti in action

Arthur Vermeeren has been spotted in Spain ahead of his move to Atletico Madrid.

The Belgian wonderkid, who had been on the radar of Premier League sides, is set to join Atleti from Royal Antwerp.

Spanish outlet AS shared footage of the 18-year-old inside the Metropolitano stadium, with his new employers in action against Sevilla in the Copa Del Rey.

Guardiola's farewell message to Phillips

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has given Kalvin Phillips his well-wishes ahead of the midfielder's loan move to West Ham.

The manager suggested no decision would be made on the former Leeds man's longer-term future until his parent club is able to see how he gets on in East London, with the loan deal imminent.

“I wish him (well). I’ve said many times, he’s an exceptional human being and a football player, otherwise he wouldn’t be in the national team. Hopefully he can prove what he really is," Guardiola said.

Bristol Rovers close to Conteh deal

Bristol Rovers are now close to sealing a deal for Grimsby Town midfielder Kamil Conteh.

Mirror Football detailed last week that the League One outfit had seen a bid rejected for the 21-year-old midfielder, who joined the Mariners from Middlesbrough in the summer.

But Rovers have now reached a verbal agreement with Grimsby following a sticking point in negotiations over the structure of a deal.

Conteh has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Grimsby Town.

Clubs circling after Watford's Pollock hands in transfer request

Watford defender Mattie Pollock has handed in a transfer request - and Blackburn, Rotherham and Derby are all keen on the former Grimsby centre back.

Pollock, 22, joined the Hornets in 2021 and spent the second half of last season out on loan at Aberdeen.

The youngster, whose father Jamie played for Manchester City, has mostly been used from the bench by Watford this season and was an unused substitute when they beat Chesterfield in the third round of the FA Cup.

Mbappe 'considering' two offers ahead of decision on future

According to ESPN, Kylian Mbappe already has offers on the table from current club Paris Saint-Germain and potential suitors Real Madrid and is weighing up the pair of them.

France forward Mbappe shrugged off Madrid interest to sign a new deal with PSG in 2022, but the current situation is potentially different for the 2018 World Cup winner.

The same report suggests that, despite earlier suggestions the Spanish club are demanding an answer soon, no firm deadline has been set when it comes to Mbappe's decision.

Club Brugge's demands over Spurs target Nusa

Tottenham may need to loan Antonio Nusa back to Club Brugge if they want to get a deal over the line in January, according to reports in Belgium (via Sport Witness).

“I think it is very important for his personal development that he stays here for another six months," Brugge boss Ronny Deila is quoted as saying. "We want that, but that is also his personal wish.

“So, I don’t see him leaving this winter. He will more than likely move to a new team next summer. But normally he stays until June.”

Nusa, 18, is a full international for Norway and has three goals and two assists in the Belgian top tier this season.

Man Utd youngster Vitek signs new deal and leaves on loan

Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek has signed a new contract, keeping him at the Premier League club until 2027.

Following confirmation of the extension, the Czech youngster agreed a loan move to Accrington Stanley for the remainder of the season.

Vitek, 20, was on the bench for United's Champions League games against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray earlier this season but has yet to make his senior bow.

He was also the starting goalkeeper for the 2022 FA Youth Cup final when United's Under-18s got the better of Nottingham Forest.

Pochettino tight-lipped over transfers

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has remained secretive over any late deals this January from his side.

Asked about interest in Aston Villa's Jhon Duran, he replied: "I think there are too many rumours, players in, players out. At the moment, there's nothing to say.

"We work really hard about different things in different areas. But I think at the moment, there is nothing to communicate. We will communicate if something happens in the next few days."

Ireland closing in on Carsley appointment

Lee Carsley is red-hot favourite to take over as Republic of Ireland boss.

England under-21 coach Carsley is set to be offered the job after the FAI meets next Tuesday to decide on their preferred candidate.

Bookmakers have suspended betting on Carsley who is expected to be given a four year contract worth £500,000-a-year to quit his current role with England under-21s who he led to last summer’s European Championships.

Birmingham-born Carsley, 49, who won 40 caps for Ireland through his Irish grandmother, is ready to succeed current boss Stephen Kenny.

Carsley was ready for a new challenge after last summer either in club football or with a step up having led the England under-21s to European glory.

He is being seen as the best choice to rebuild a squad and develop younger players. Carsley brought through the likes of Cole Palmer and Curtis Jones.

Former Ireland star Kevin Kilbane, a former team mate of Carsley, said: “It is no secret that I believe Lee Carsley can transform Irish football.

“I know him as a man and a coach as we played together for years at Everton and Ireland, scrapping away in midfield when Steve Staunton tried to qualify for Euro 2008.”

Phillips completes West Ham medical

Kalvin Phillips' move to West Ham is one step closer to being finalised, with The Sun reporting that the midfielder has passed his medical.

Phillips, 28, will spend the remainder of the season at the London Stadium with reports suggesting the London club will cover his wages.

The £45m man has struggled for minutes at City this season, last featuring in a Premier League game in November.

His last outing of any kind came in December, when he played and scored a penalty against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

Leicester set to complete Inter swoop

Championship leaders Leicester City look set to bolster Enzo Maresca's side with a swoop for Inter Milan's Stefano Sensi.

According to FCInterNews, the two clubs are set to hold a meeting today to thrash out the final details of a deal. It is suggested that they will pay an initial €1m (£850k) for the midfielder, with another €1m due if they earn an instant promotion back to the Premier League.

Sensi, a nine-time Italian international, will sign a two-and-a-half year contract with the Foxes.

Guardiola not expecting Phillips replacement

Man City boss Pep Guardiola was staunch when asked if his side would replace Kalvin Phillips.

Asked if they could move for another midfielder as Phillips edges towards a move to West Ham, Guardiola replied: "I don’t think so."

Speaking more about his exit, he added: "It is what it is. I wish him [well]. I said many times, an exceptional human being and a football player otherwise he wouldn’t be in the national team. Hopefully he can improve what it is."

No Saudi move for Everton's Doucoure

Everton have no interest in selling Abdoulaye Doucoure to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq this month.

Al-Ettifaq are understood to be keen on Doucoure and the midfielder has been outstanding for Everton over the past year, scoring 11 Premier League goals under Sean Dyche.

Doucoure, 31, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury, wrote his name into Goodison folklore when he netted the only goal against Bournemouth to keep the Blues up on the final day of last season.

Everton have not received any approach from Al-Ettifaq, who are managed by Steven Gerrard, for Doucoure and want to keep all their best players as they fight relegation.

The Blues have rewarded Doucoure with two new deals since the end of last season to tie him to the club until 2025.

Everton are also uninterested in Leeds’ loan offer for Ben Godfrey and it is understood the defender is more likely to move abroad if he leaves this window.

The Blues would need a cash offer to part with Godfrey, who cost them £25million in 2020 and who has made just three appearances this season, and Genoa are understood to be one of a number of foreign clubs chasing him.

Lukaku hints at Saudi move

Romelu Lukaku has hinted that he could move to Saudi Arabia at some point in the future.

Speaking to HLN, the striker said: “In the next two years I see this league becoming one of the best in the world, if not the best. The clubs make a lot of efforts to bring the 'big' players here. As a result, the teams and the footballing qualities are improving significantly.”

The on-loan Chelsea forward was also asked if he could move to Saudi, to which he replied "absolutely".

Matic in line for Lyon move

Former Manchester United and Chelsea star Nemanja Matic is set for a move across France just six months after signing for Rennes.

According to French outlet RMC Sport, the Serbian midfielder will join Lyon. The two sides have reached an agreement over a move.

He originally penned a two-year deal with Rennes but is now on the move once more.

Man Utd handed Vinicius boost

Manchester United could have been handed a golden opportunity to sign Vinicius Jr.

The Red Devils have been touted as admirers for the Brazilian winger, with Jim Ratcliffe keen to make a statement signing. According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Spanish side could sell him, with Florentino Perez unconvinced that he could be the face of the club in the future.

Vinicius has three-and-a-half years remaining on his Real Madrid contract.

PSG sign Moscardo

French giants PSG have added another promising young defender to their squad with a move for Corinthians star Gabriel Moscardo.

He has signed a four-and-a-half year deal but will rejoin his former side on-loan until the end of the current campaign.

Rodgers firm over O'Riley

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers claims Matt O'Riley will not leave the club this January amid interest from Atletico Madrid

The former Leicester manager said: "There was that but Matt is a player we don't want to lose. He won't be going anywhere in January. He's been absolutely brilliant.

"It's good testament to what this club can do for a player. He's had his first full international cap. Atletico Madrid is a big club in European football, but he's a big part of what we're doing here. He's someone that will be here for us for the second part of the season.

"We don't want to sell, we have no need to. We have a value of the player and certainly what has come in for Matt in the time I've been here has been nowhere near the valuation of the player and the quality he's got."
