Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name launches later this week on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but will Like a Dragon Gaiden be on Xbox Game Pass?
For a series that was PlayStation exclusive for the majority of its lifetime, Like a Dragon and Xbox have been extremely friendly over the last few years. Yakuza: Like a Dragon's current generation version was a launch title for the Xbox Series X|S in 2020, while PS5 owners had to make do with the PS4 version until the following year. Also, almost every entry in the series has been made available on Xbox Game Pass – including 2023's Like a Dragon: Ishin! which launched on Xbox Game Pass last month.
Which leads us to Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which launches on Thursday, November 9 for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Despite having the suffix of Gaiden (which means side story in Japanese), this entry is important to the canon storyline ahead of the eighth mainline entry – Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – launching next year. The game's main focus is showing us what series stalwart Kazuma Kiryu was up to during the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon. But will Like a Dragon Gaiden be on Xbox Game Pass? Yes, is the short answer. But you can read all of the details, including the Like a Dragon Gaiden release time below.
Will Like a Dragon Gaiden be on Xbox Game Pass
Yes, Like a Dragon Gaiden will be on Xbox Game Pass.Microsoft and Sega confirmed during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show stream that Like a Dragon Gaiden would be joining the rest of the series on Xbox Game Pass, as a day one launch no less. So players on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC will be able to play Kiryu's latest adventure for the price of a Xbox Game Pass subscription when the game launches on Thursday, November 9.
Like a Dragon Gaiden's Xbox release time is set for midnight local time on Thursday, November 9 wherever you are. However, if you live in the US there's a chance the game will launch at 12am EST no matter what US time zone you're in, based on previous midnight releases on the platform.

If you're keen on Like a Dragon Gaiden but want to catch up on the series first, you're also in luck as Yakuza 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and Like a Dragon are all available on Xbox Game Pass at the time of writing. But don't let not being up to date discourage you, as Like a Dragon Gaiden is a great time even if you've never played an entry in the series.
We gave Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name a 4/5 in our review saying that it goes toe-to-toe with the series highlights like Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 2. Thankfully you won't need to wait long to get your hands on it, as is just around the corner.
