The Rock has been called out by thousands of fans after wearing a fake Manchester United shirt when dressing up as David Beckham for Halloween.

Real name Dwayne Johnson, The Rock posted pictures to his social media pages of him wearing Beckham 7 jersey, but fans were quick to notice it was a fake shirt due to a very obvious tell. The shirt in question didn't have an Adidas logo printed on the front, meaning it isn't an official piece of club merchandise.

The English footballing legend has returned to prominence in recent months after his ownership of Inter Miami with the team signing Lionel Messi, as well as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. And just last month, Beckham's hit Netflix documentary was released - following his career from Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy along with an inside look into his personal life and marriage to former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham.

Johnson went all out in his outfit, wearing a muscle-tight United shirt while even finding a wig to match his long, blonde hair he sported when he was with Real Madrid in La Liga.

But many have been quick to call out Johnson's shirt, wondering why he has not bought an official shirt. One wrote: "One of the richest actor's in Hollywood... surely he can afford a legit shirt," as another asked: "Why is he wearing a fake Man Utd shirt?".

Another said: "Someone has clearly been watching the Netflix documentary, could have at least bought a real shirt though" as one fan said: "He looks like he's bought that shirt off a beach!"

But while many have been quick to criticise the actor, others believe they understand why he did not wear an official Adidas jersey. One fan summarised: "He's sponsored by Under Armour," while one said: "He's not going to wear an Adidas jersey for a Halloween outfit when he has a huge partnership with Under Armour".

Johnson posted the picture on Tuesday, with the caption: "265lb BLA-MOAN BECKHAM. #7 on the field, #1 in your heart. Happy Halloween, my friends. Bla-moan = black + Samoan."

He followed this up with a second post attempting some skills with the ball, before Beckham had seen the images and had replied. He said: "And the winner is The Rock. Looking good man, I know what I am going as next year." Beckham added: "I mean I thought I was looking in the mirror. Looking good man, you might need a bigger jersey."
