We all have different reasons for the locations we pick for our holidays, whether it's the weather, the landscape, the culture, or the activities the location has to offer.

But one man has left his wife baffled after he said he wants to jet off to Italy to do nothing more than stock up on some of his favourite snacks that are only available in the country.

The woman, from the US, explained that her husband wants to fly to Milan for one week and spend his time in the city bulk-buying snack food so that he can enjoy it back at home.

However, the man's wife believes having a holiday based solely around snack foods is "odd and expensive", as well as a "waste" of a good holiday that could instead be used sightseeing and soaking up the sun.

The woman spoke about her dilemma in a Reddit post titled: "AITA [Am I the A**hole] for telling husband spending a week in Italy just to buy snack food in bulk is odd and expensive?"

'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time''I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'

And in the post, she wrote: "My husband told us that he wants to take a week-long vacation to Italy so he can stock up on snack food and bring it back in bulk back to our home city of Chicago, claiming 'it is a good thing to buy food in bulk ... remember that time I bought your sister a bulk-buy of M&M's and Hershey's when we went to NYC for your 30th a decade ago?'.

"He's looked at going to Milan for a week and reasoned we needed a vacation to escape the current climate. I've nothing against going to Italy, wouldn't mind going for sun, sea, sand and bikinis and also the food too.

"However, I told him to have a vacation to Italy centred on buying food in bulk and nothing else was a bit unusual unless you work in buying and selling food for a living ... which my husband doesn't, he works in end-user support a living answering support tickets for a web hosting company.

"As it is, I told my husband, the vacation's fine, you've managed to get the time off from work, but I won't do it if you're just focusing on food and nothing else, it's a waste of a vacation.

"He claims it'll be easy to get all the snack foods through US Customs and back to Chicago easily.

"AITA here for telling him explicitly that it's got to be a vacation too, not simply a case of a week's worth of buying food, importing it back home to the US and through customs and then worrying about storage?"

Commenters on the post were equally as baffled by the man's desire to jet off to another continent for snack foods - especially as many treats from around the world can be bought online.

One person said: "Pretty sure purchasing online would likely be cheaper."

While another added: "He does realise though that most European foods can be bought online though right? Spending a week in Italy just to go grocery shopping is not how I would want to spend a week in Italy personally."
