The boxing legend is set to take part in his latest event tomorrow night as he continues to compete despite retiring from the professional ranks after beating Conor McGregor in 2017. Mayweather has already shared the ring with the likes of YouTube stars Logan Paul and Deji, but he will next touch gloves with Chalmers who has previously fought in Bellator and under the Wasserman Boxing banner.

A bumper undercard will take place ahead of the headline attraction, which features the much-talked about co-feature between Natalie Nunn and Tommie Lee.

Quotes corner:

Mayweather: “I was originally supposed to face a different opponent, but injuries happen and I’m glad that Aaron Chalmers could step up so that we could give the fans what they want. The fans in the UK have always been great to me and supported me throughout my career, so an event like this has been a long time coming. I’m excited to add more history to the O2 Arena in London.

"I’ve got so much experience at highest level. I’ve fought at the best events. Experience plays a major part. With all these fighters, I want them to give it 100 per cent. We’re here to entertain. The UK has big fight market, it’s huge. I want him to be at his best and give it his all."

Chalmers: "Obviously I'd like to have fun with it as well but I'm going out there to disrespect the man. I'm not a mad disrespectful person, but I'm going to have a lot of fun with it. I might give it 'you're a bit older now, Floyd. You might not move as well as you used to,' but then I'm no spring chicken myself - I'm f***ing 35!

"I just want to have fun and enjoy this whole experience, it's a once in a lifetime experience that I can pass down to my kids and grandkids. The whole of Newcastle, when I walk around everyone is like 'f***ing hell I'm buzzing you're fighting Mayweather', so I'm hoping I have some serious support because I'm just a lad from Newcastle who never gave up, really."
