Floyd Mayweather lost $10,000 after betting on the Philadelphia Eagles to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to victory in the 57th Super Bowl despite his side trailing at the halfway mark. The game was tied 35-35 with less than 10 seconds remaining, but Harrison Butker converted his field goal to snatch the win for his side. The last-gasp goal meant Mayweather lost $10,000 as he bet on the Eagles to win by less than 1.5 points.

It wasn't all doom and gloom for Mayweather as he also put a $10,000 bet on the half-time result, in which he predicted the Eagles would be leading by more than half a point. The bet returned $20,500 which meant that Mayweather ended up profiting despite losing his bet for the Eagles to win come full-time.

'Money Mayweather' is no stranger to a sports bet as he won $52,000 last year after Dmitry Bivol beat Canelo Alvarez, which marked the Mexican's first loss since he was beaten by Mayweather almost a decade ago. The boxing legend also won $82,000 when Conor McGregor lost his trilogy fight to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. Mayweather tried to bet $400,00 on himself to beat McGregor in their 2017 crossover fight, but was turned away by a Las Vegas casino.

After retiring from professional competition with a flawless 50-0 record, Mayweather has earned millions by taking part in exhibition fights that haven't gone on his record. The 45-year-old has competed in the USA, Dubai and Japan on his exhibition tour, beating YouTubers such as Logan Paul and Deji and fighters from other combat sports.

Mayweather returns to action next weekend as he competes in the UK for the first time in his career, facing former reality TV star Aaron Chalmers at The O2 arena. 'Money' said of the fight: "The fans in the U.K. have always been great to me and supported me throughout my career, so an event like this has been a long time coming. I’m excited to add more history to The O2 arena in London.”

Chalmers, who is also an MMA fighter that made his boxing debut last June, told Mirror Fighting of the fight: "Towards December I even started questioning myself, thinking 'am I being f***ing crazy?' The lowest point of my life, it was horrendous. But I kept plugging away and then five weeks later here we are."
