Michael Jackson's children marked what would have been his 65th birthday this week, with Prince Jackson and Bigi Jackson having both attended an event for the occasion.

The late singer - who died back in 2009, aged 50 - was remembered at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Tuesday. The venue hosts the ongoing Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil, which is a theatre show "dedicated to [his] creative legacy".

The venue hosted a series of special events yesterday to mark Michael's birthday, with his sons Prince, 26, and Bigi, 21 - formerly known as Blanket - having been in attendance. They were spotted inside the property located in Nevada.

According to an announcement on its website, the event was due to include a Q&A session with the Michael Jackson Estate and "a special performance" by the cast of Michael Jackson ONE. A meet and greet with the cast, as well as representatives from Michael's estate, was also scheduled.

Bigi, who made a rare appearance at the event, and his eldest sibling Prince were spotted at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino yesterday amid the special occasion. They were seen interacting with fans at the Michael Jackson One theatre located inside the venue.

Prince also took to Instagram on Tuesday to pay tribute to his late father, with him having written in a post: "Happy birthday dad. I miss you and I love you. You may be gone but not forgotten. You're in our hearts each and every day."

His sister Paris Jackson, 25, also took the opportunity to mark the occasion this week. She took to the platform with a series of videos, in which she said that their late father didn't actually enjoy people acknowledging his birthday.

She said: "Back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday [but] social media is apparently how people express their love and affection these days and if you don't wish someone a 'happy birthday' via social media, it apparently means that you don't love them."

Paris - who is the youngest of Michael's two children with Debbie Rowe - went on to share footage of herself at a concert on Tuesday, in which she told the crowd: "[It's] my dad's birthday. He would have been 65 years old today."

She further told the audience at the gig this week: "He put 50 years of blood, sweat, tears, love and passion into doing what he did, so that I could stand up her in front of you and scream into a microphone. So I owe everything to him."

The singer concluded by suggesting that fans of her late father raise awareness around climate change and animal rights activism if they want to honour him. She said they are "things that he loved and was very, very interested in".
