When trying to lose weight there are a number of fad and dangerous diets out there that people will choose to resort to, cutting their calorie intake and restricting their food options in a bid to shed some pounds - despite there often being better and healthier ways to implement changes.

But one woman might be following the most unusual diet we've seen so far, as she reportedly eats raw testicles, liver, intestines, and brains each day as part of a carnivore diet. Influencer India Castley, from Southport, shares her controversial daily meals with her followers on TikTok and has unsurprisingly received some backlash for doing so.

The 19-year-old claims she's dropped five stone since starting the diet in September 2021, going from a UK size 16 down to a size 8. However, it's not all been smooth sailing and she says she's even received death threats from strangers online who think she's lying about what she eats.

India claims that over the years she'd tried and failed to follow other diets such as vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian, but just ended up consuming takeaways, processed foods, and plenty of sugary treats, leaving her not feeling quite right. Her diet reportedly now consists of raw meat including liver, steak, brain, testicles, and intestines, as well as raw dairy, organic cheese, and animal fats such as tallow. An average day of eating for India starts with uncooked steak and eggs or steak and liver for breakfast, a big piece of steak and some other organ and eggs for her main meal, water, and raw dairy to drink throughout the day, and although she rarely snacks it would usually be liver or steak.

Although India is a big fan of the carnivorous diet, she receives plenty of hate online for sharing her journey, and her videos are often reported to TikTok for their content. Viewers of her social media constantly leave negative comments on her posts, with one reading: "I think she does this for viewers cuz she always takes one bite then wraps it up." While another person said: "Can tell she doesn't like it. Absolute attention-seeking k**b”."

India says she can understand people's reservations about the unusual diet, but the hate online hasn't put her off. She said: "I became a carnivore because I had heard such great things about it, both mentally and physically." She continued: "You don't need to worry about what you're going to eat or what meals you are going to plan; it's a simple but effective diet. I get my meat from the butchers primarily, including brain, testicles, intestines. People are shocked or in disbelief when I tell them my diet."

Since beginning her carnivorous diet, India insists has seen a wave of improvement in her sleep schedule, skin, energy levels, weight, and overall health. However, there's limited research out there to support her claims and it was previously reported that India hasn't consulted with any professionals about the major switch in her diet. It's a good idea to consult with your GP before making any big lifestyle changes. Nutritionists and medical professionals also often discourage people from eating raw meat as it may contain bacteria and even parasites. It is instead recommended to eat a balanced, healthy diet to ensure you're getting everything you need.

As reported by Healthline, the most common risk associated with eating raw meat is food poisoning. They explained: "When eating raw meat, the biggest risk that you may encounter is contracting a foodborne illness, which is commonly referred to as food poisoning. This is caused by eating food contaminated with bacteria, viruses, parasites, or toxins. Common pathogens in raw meat include Salmonella, Clostridium perfringens, E. coli, Listeria monocytogenes, and Campylobacter. Symptoms of foodborne illness include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, fever, and headache. These symptoms usually present within 24 hours and can last up to seven days — or longer in certain cases — as the duration depends on the pathogen."
