Man Utd given go-ahead to complete Amrabat transfer after star 'packs his bags'
Fiorentina chief executive Giuseppe Barone has given Manchester United the green light to complete a deal for Sofyan Amrabat ahead of next week's transfer deadline.
The Red Devils have been courting Amrabat all summer as Erik ten Hag continues to seek reinforcements for his squad. Ten Hag's hands are currently tied in the market after spending big on deals for Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, but it is understood that the Dutchman is still keen on bringing Amrabat to Old Trafford.
With just one week left until the transfer window shuts, time is running out for a deal to be struck - but Barone has once again stressed Fiorentina will not prevent Amrabat from moving on.
Just days after admitting that the club were ready to allow Amrabat to leave, Barone made it clear that any serious proposals for the 27-year-old would be taken into consideration by the Serie A outfit. It is understood that Fiorentina are ready to do business at around £21million.
The Fiorentina chief has since told Sky Sports: "Sofyan's not working with the squad — but we have still not received any bid for Amrabat this summer. If there are players who are unhappy here, we can start considering bids for them of course."
Marcel Sabitzer completes Man Utd transfer after last-minute deadline day dashIt emerged earlier this week that Fiorentina had omitted Amrabat from their squad for the upcoming Europa Conference League play-off first-leg match against Rapid Vienna. The midfielder is also understood to be training away from his teammates ahead of any prospective transfer.
Although Fiorentina insist no formal bid has yet been lodged for Amrabat, Manchester United's interest in the midfielder spans all the way back to the start of the summer transfer window. There were even reports in Italy back in July that Amrabat had already 'packed his bags' ahead of the mooted switch to Old Trafford.

United are expected to ramp up their attempts to move on several players who are surplus to requirements in the coming days in a bid to raise additional transfer funds.
The club have already offloaded Fred and a handful of youngsters, but there is interest in senior players such as Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay, who could both be moved on. Former club captain Harry Maguire 's next move is unclear after he snubbed a move to West Ham.
As well as targeting Amrabat, Ten Hag is also believed to be keen on signing another central defender, with OGC Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo on United's wishlist.
