A mum has shared a genius hack to save cash at a popular seaside theme park over the summer holidays.

TikToker Nicola Lewis to the platform to show how she manages to get a 50% discount on the rides at Adventure Island in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The family park is home to popular rides such as rollercoaster Rage and Green Scream.

But while entry to the resort is free, passes for the rides cost as much as £26 per person for the day, meaning a spontaneous trip could turn out to be an expensive summer venture. The mum shared her tip for getting access to the rides for just half that.

Sharing clips of her daughter getting her wristband for the park, Nicola said: “So to celebrate the end of the Easter holidays my daughter and her friend decided they wanted to go in the rain to Adventure Island in Southend. Now, little money saving tip here, guys - after 5pm the tickets to the park to all rides are half price.

Nicola explains: “So the park opens at midday closes at 7 during the spring months. However, if it's a really warm day it might stay open till 10. “Today it's finishing at 7 so they've got two hours to go on as many rides as possible and there's no queues [sic]. They love all of these types of thrill rides - it's not for me one bit.

“But do you know what? I'm very happy to see them having fun and just enjoying themselves.” Nicola's video shares a clip of the girls on thrill-seekers' favourite, Rage, which involves a vertical climb and drop. “I could never do this,” she adds. “It's not for me. Enjoy girls.” Other TikTok users commented on the useful hack, describing it as a “brilliant" idea while one wrote “we need to go”.

“Guessing they went on rage then xx” one person commented on the video. A second added that the park “opens at 11,” to which Nicola responded: “Yes but you can’t access the rides til midday x [sic]”. Another person pointed out “you can get cheap tickets from certain shops around Southend”. “BRILLIANT,” a fourth person commented.
