Nate Diaz and Jake Paul both needed to strip down behind a towel as they made the 185lb limit to make their boxing grudge fight official.

Paul was in early to tip the scales at 185lb before Diaz arrived around 20 minutes later at 184.9lb The social media sensation had managed to get down to 183.75lb for his last bout with Tommy Fury, but was over a pound heavier this time around as he faces former UFC lightweight title contender Diaz who, before today, most recently tipped the scales at 171lb for his bout with Tony Ferguson in September.

There was some confusion during the opening stages of the weigh-in as the official scale had to be changed because it was registering fighters a few pounds underweight. Paul first appeared on the scale around 25 minutes into the weigh-in as he checked his weight but didn't officially step on the scale.

There had been a relaxed buzz around fight week but that changed on Wednesday at the pre-fight press conference as members of Paul and Diaz's security crews started brawling onstage. Paul and Diaz watched on from a distance as their respective teams couldn't keep their hands to themselves and got violent, causing both men to be escorted off of the stage.

Paul said of the scuffle: "S*** popped off, Nate's team started throwing punches at my security guards. My security guards dropped his team and it's just a little warm up for what's going to happen Saturday night." He later claimed one of Diaz's team was sent to hospital after the brawl and that the UFC legend was planning to sue his opponent.

"Nate’s team has emailed my team trying to claim assault after his team swung first," Paul wrote on Twitter after the event, which saw the pair finally begin to get heated as fight day approaches. "Apparently the guy who swung first is at the hospital getting stitches. Hilarious these fake gangsters acting like this!"

He later added: "All out warfare, eye for eye. You threatened MVPs co-founder who has been a partner to you and your team every step of the way? He’s put your best friend on over and over again. Stupid. Then your team wants to swing on us…so you got served a three piece and a biscuit. Punk. It’s time for goodnight."
