Jake Paul is promising to leave boxing in a better place than he found it after receiving some gushing praise from legendary heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

The former undisputed champion was a big part of Paul's new Netflix documentary PRBLM Child, and gave a lengthy soliloquy about the YouTube star's impact on the sport during the final scenes of the film. After sharing a card in November of 2020 when Tyson made his ring return against Roy Jones Jr, the pair have remained close friends and frequently compliment one another publicly.

And Paul has responded in kind after Tyson made a series of positive remarks during his documentary, which became one of the most viewed films on Netflix in the UK and America this week upon its release. The social media star is going to be back in the ring tomorrow night against Nate Diaz, and is promising yet another viral KO.

"He did more for boxing than some of the champions did," Tyson says in the new Netflix movie Untold. "We got to keep this guy bright because he’s going to save boxing – as long as he continues to fight. He got the light, you know what I mean? He’s touched. He got the light."

And speaking with Mirror Fighting and other outlets yesterday, Paul responded, telling Tyson: "It's surreal. It's really cool and it means the world to me, it means more than anything else that I've done and I hope to help this sport because this sport helped me in so many ways and I just want to continue to make it a better sport and make boxing great again.

"Mike Tyson is a legend and I'm so grateful that he has sort of taken me under his wing and given me the opportunity to fight Nate Robinson on his undercard. Honestly, it's all kudos to him and boxing is the best sport in the world - I'm going to die on my shield with that."

Paul is looking to get back on winning ways on Saturday night against Diaz after losing his first fight as a professional back in February to Tommy Fury. It will see him once again take on an ageing, debuting UFC legend, but will attract a large audience due to how beloved Nate and his brother are to MMA fans.
