Ten Hag makes Man Utd request for Liverpool target after Hojlund deal sealed
Erik ten Hag has lodged a request to the Manchester United hierarchy to seal a deal for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Red Devils are closing in on a big-money move for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund. He has undergone a medical with United after a £72m fee was agreed on between the two clubs.
Hojlund is expected to be announced over the coming days. Once the move is rubber-stamped then the Red Devils are expected to move onto potential midfield recruits with just a few weeks of the transfer window remaining. Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat was identified as a prime target.
A few problems have arisen in getting a move over the line. United at first need to move on a few of their current players including Fred and Donny van de Beek - the Dutchman has been linked with a move to Spanish side Real Sociedad.
Meanwhile, they also face competition for Amrabat’s services. Liverpool and Arsenal have both been linked with a move for him, whilst Saudi side Al-Ahli are interested but reports have suggested that he will reject a switch to the Gulf State.

Whilst questions remain over a switch for Amrabat, Ten Hag seemingly has an alternative in mind. According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Dutchman has made a personal plea to his recruitment team to seal a deal for French midfielder Tchouameni.

It is suggested that Ten Hag is a huge admirer of the Real Madrid star and wants to secure his services. His interest goes as far as the Red Devils considering lodging a bid for the former Monaco man.
It is reported that United’s bid could potentially be ‘very similar’ to the €80m (£68.9m) that Real Madrid originally paid to secure his services. The Spanish side could also be tempted to sell given they are chasing a move for Kylian Mbappe.
It is not the first time that Tchouameni has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer. Liverpool were also touted as a suitor as they eye midfield recruits of their own following the exits of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia earlier this summer.
However, it appears that Real boss Carlo Ancelotti would be against Tchouameni’s exit this summer. AS previously reported that he was keen to build his midfield around the 23-year-old this season, which could again scupper a move to Old Trafford.
Tchouameni has five years remaining on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu. After arriving from Monaco last summer, the 25-capped French international made 50 appearances in all competitions for Real last term.
