The Love Island finalists have landed back home in the UK and were greeted with emotional reunions by their friends and families. After a long, hot summer away in the stunning Spanish villa, the reality TV stars have finally been reunited with their loved ones.

The summer series came to an end on Monday night, where Jess Harding and Sammy Root secured the top spot. Yet the win divided many viewers as they beat two favourite couples to the win – Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki and Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde.

Sammy and Jess were overjoyed to find out they had won the public vote and took home £50,000 to share. It had been tipped to be between the two other couples, while Molly Marsh and Zach Noble finished in fourth place. The winning couple, alongside Whitney, Lochan, Ella, Tyrique, Molly and Zach touched down at Stansted Airport today after months in the Love Island villa.

Taking to their social media accounts after not having access to their phones for weeks, the Islanders gave fans updates as they travelled back to the UK. Jess shared a sweet snap as she posed next to Sammy at the check-in desk. She looked gorgeous in a blue cut-out bodysuit and trainers whilst Sammy opted for black jeans and matching hoodie.

Posting on his own account, Sammy shared a short clip of himself walking through the airport with Jess, Molly and Zach and he said: "Home time." Tyrique shared a cute photo of Ella, who stunned in a black corset top and hoodie, as she went through airport security. Over the image he wrote: "We outta here!" before sharing a snap of them both waiting to board their plane.

Despite many viewers being divided by the win, the voting figures show Jess and Sammy were worthy winners having bagged 34.57% of the whole vote. Meanwhile, favourites Whitney and Lochan got 26.85% of the vote, closely followed by Ella and Tyrique with 24.21%. Molly and Zach trailed behind with just 14.37% of the public vote.

When asked how it felt to win the show, Sammy said: "It feels amazing, it’s hard to have any words for it really but it’s very surreal." Jess added: "I feel like it was a close call and everyone did so well. To win it is over the moon. Very positive, happy and overwhelmed." However, when asked if he felt he and Jess should have been crowned the champions, Sammy said: "When we were stood up there we looked at everyone and thought they were all worthy to win. It was hard to work it out. When our names were called it was a shock to the system, but a nice shock."
