Xbox Players have reported running into error code 0x87E107DF which is categorised as a licensing validation issue, here are some ways you can sort it.

Xbox error code 0x87E107DF is an issue which has been rearing its head since the Xbox One launched, and the issue has carried over to the new generation with the Xbox Series X|S. The issue is listed on the Xbox support website as a "temporary issue with licensing validation while the Xbox Live service is attempting to launch the game".

The issue will prevent you from launching apps, so it's obviously not ideal. Luckily, there are a few ways to potentially sort this issue without resorting to contacting Microsoft's support team. We've compiled some of the most effective ones below.

How to fix error code 0x87E107DF on Xbox

There are a few reasons error code 0x87E107DF could show up on your Xbox, so we're going to go over a few potential fixes starting with the least time-consuming one.

Check Xbox Live server status

Due to error code 0x87E107DF being a problem with licensing validation, it may actually be on Microsoft's side. We'd recommend taking a look at the Xbox Live server status website to make sure everything is up and running. You should see a green icon with a tick inside it if everything is performing as normal, but a yellow triangle with an exclamation point means services are limited, with a red circle with a line through it meaning it's completely out. So if you see yellow or red on this page, there's a chance the issue is on Xbox's end, so just keep an eye on this page.

Check other software

There's always a chance that error code 0x87E107DF may be a specific problem with the game you're trying to boot up, check out other games on your console to see if this issue persists for your other games or just this one. If other games work without an issue we would suggest checking if the game has an update, or – failing that – reinstalling the game completely.

Restart your console

The old reliable can work on this occasion too, simply performing a full restart of your Xbox can sometimes be enough to fix this problem. Don't ask us to explain exactly how it works, but sometimes the simplest methods are the most effective.

Put your console into offline mode

As error code 0x87E107DF is an issue with licenses you may be able to bypass this by putting your console into an offline mode. This method obviously isn't much help if you're trying to play an online game, but for single-player titles, this method can help. To put your console into offline mode follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings
  • Go to the 'Network' menu
  • Select 'Network Settings'
  • Select 'Go Offline' and confirm.

After doing this you should be able to access your titles without any issues. It may be worth heading out of offline mode to see if this has fixed your issue.

Perform a power cycle restart

A power cycle restart is a complete reboot – meaning no data is held during the process. To perform this follow these steps:

  • When your Xbox is on, hold the power button and keep it pressed until it begins flashing then release
  • Once the console is powered off, remove the power cable
  • After the cable has been removed for around five minutes plug it back in
  • Start up your console and select the game causing the issue

This method works well at fixing issues like this. If it doesn't work, performing this while in offline mode has been known to work too, so maybe give that a go.

If all else fails, we recommend contacting Microsoft support and getting assistance from one of their agents. It's a boring answer and may take longer, but it's the most likely way to fix error code 0x87E107DF 100% of the time.
