Hollywood star unrecognisable in throwback snap of him as boxing 'champion'
Danny Trejo is known for his handlebar mustache and long hair typically styled in a ponytail, but he recently posted a photo on Instagram that had neither.
Danny shared a black and white snap of him on the social media app of a younger him as a boxer. He's smiling at the camera and standing in a typical boxer pose with one leg in front of the other and his hands up.
He's wearing traditional lace-up boxer shoes and white socks that come mid-calf. His hands are wrapped also in the typical boxer fashion and he's only wearing dark athletic shorts.

Danny Trejo took up boxing while in jail (Getty Images)The 79-year-old shocked his 2.3 million followers with the photo, with some responding he had a "baby face" and "that boy couldn't even imagine" the life that he was going to lead. The actor captioned the photo: "#TBT A young boxing Machete. I was the Tri-Facility Champion at Soledad, and Lightweight & Welterweight Champion at San Quentin."
Before Danny was an actor, he was caught up in drug dealing, resulting in intermittent jail stints between 1956 and 1969. Soledad and San Quentin were two prisons where he served his time. He was first arrested when he was 10 but spent his first time in jail two years later.
The actor also met cult leader Charles Manson while they were both at the Los Angeles County jail in 1961. Danny described him as "a dirty, greasy, scrawny white boy."

He was in small roles such as "tough prisoner" and "young Mexican" in various movies and TV shows but finally got Hollywood blockbuster attention when he played Gilbert Trejo in 1995's Heat starring Al Pachino and Robert De Niro.
Danny is best known for portraying the character Machete. The character first appeared in the children's action film Spy Kids, but gained a cult following and various movies in which he starred in.
The actor also owns various restaurants in the Los Angeles area. He opened Trejo's Tacos in 2016, which then led to the creation of Trejo's Cantina and Trejo's Coffee and Donuts.
