Erik ten Hag is after a new striker this summer - but who will he sign?

Manchester United are refusing to pay more than £60million for Ten Hag's preferred target, Rasmus Hojlund. Atalanta want £80m for the Denmark international, 20, which is an awful lot of money for a striker who scored just nine Serie A goals last season.

Nevertheless, Ten Hag is confident of signing a striker. He told reporters: "We make progress, yeah. But you know how it works - when we have him, we will tell you directly. The only thing I can say is we do everything that's in our power to get that done."

With that in mind, here are the latest transfer rumours from Old Trafford...

Mbappe boost

United would love to sign Kylian Mbappe - arguably the best striker in the world - and have received a boost in their pursuit of the World Cup winner. According to Relevo, the 24-year-old will reject a £604m per year contract from ambitious Saudi side Al-Hilal.

Paris Saint-Germain are willing to sell Mbappe to avoid losing him on a free transfer in a year's time. The France international has entered the final year of his contract and is unwilling to sign an extension, with Real Madrid the favourites to sign him.

Yet the Spanish giants aren't willing to pay for Mbappe this summer, putting other clubs on red alert. It's believed United, Chelsea and Tottenham - as well as Barcelona and Inter Milan - are interested in signing the striker, who scored 41 goals for PSG last season.

Ten Hag was asked about United's interest in Mbappe during a recent press conference. "We never speak about players who are under contract in other clubs," he replied.

Sofyan Amrabat would prefer a move to United over Liverpool, according to Corriere della Sera. As relayed by Get Football News Italy, the Morocco international, 26, wants to reunite with Ten Hag - his former manager at Utrecht - this summer.

Amrabat is one of the most sought after midfielders in Europe after helping Morocco reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. It's believed Italian side Fiorentina want €30m (£25.8m) for Amrabat, who has just a year remaining on his contract.

Elanga joins Forest

Anthony Elanga has completed a permanent move from United to Nottingham Forest. The Sweden international, 21, made 55 first-team appearances for the Red Devils after breaking into the team under Ralf Rangnick, Ten Hag's predecessor.

Forest have paid around £15m for Elanga, who has signed a five-year deal. He said: "It’s a pleasure to be here. It’s a proud moment, not only for me, but for my family as well.

"It’s the perfect next step for me in my career, it’s a big step and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the Forest fans at The City Ground. I had interest from elsewhere, but for me, Nottingham Forest feels like the perfect place."
