For "gym-obsessed" grandma Lesley Maxwell, the phrase 'age is just a number' couldn't be more true. At 65 years old, the ripped gran works as a personal trainer and can regularly be spotted weightlifting.

Now the super fit gran has shared a snap on Instagram with her lookalike granddaughter Tia Christofi, and people are in disbelief at the age difference.

Fans of the weightlifting gran were amazed that the 21-year-old "looked more like Lesley's sister" than her granddaughter.

In the photo, Lesley could be seen in an elegant black, one-shoulder dress with natural-looking makeup and poker-straight hair. She was posing with Tia, who looked incredible in a white tassel strapless dress and high ponytail hairstyle.

The photo received more than 2,600 likes, and hundreds of people couldn't help but comment on the fact that they looked more like siblings.

One person commented saying: "This is your granddaughter? No, this is your sister!"

Another added: "Couldn't tell who was the granddaughter".

"Granddaughter! No way, sisters maybe," added a third.

A fourth said: "Good genes, you broke all stereotypes."

Lesley has previously admitted that whenever she goes out with her granddaughter people do assume they are friends of siblings.

Tia said: "We are often mistaken as mother and daughter. My grandmother is young at heart and we both share a passion for health and fitness.

"She looks amazing and I will definitely live a healthy lifestyle when I'm her age. We try to fit in a session each week together, mostly at my home gym."

Lesley said: "I'm so proud of Tia and love how we have similar interests. We often share clothes and even bikinis, which is a bonus."

The shredded gran lives in Melbourne, Australia, works out five times a week and has won several trophies for her amazing physique.

She now loves to show other people that they can "reverse the ageing process through eating clean but effective exercise".

Lesley previously said: "Build the muscle and burn the fat and having a healthy lean body is up to us.

"There are two ways of ageing – one is chronological age which is from your birthdate until now. The other is biological age, which is more exciting! We can create a younger body – become leaner, stronger, healthier."

She now says she's even fitter than she was when she was in her 30s, despite "always being into fitness", but she used to be "thin with a lack of muscle".

After separating from her husband in her late 40s she experienced a "sense of anxiety", so she re-focused her energy on weight training.

She then started a personal training course after being inspired by a fitness competition.

Lesley added: "I soon took part in my first bikini competition and won. I've been competing ever since and am now fitter and in the best shape of my life in my 60s."
