Fiorentina break silence on Amrabat transfer as Man Utd and Liverpool chase
Fiorentina have rubbished reports they have received an official bid from Manchester United for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
Amrabat, who came through at Utrecht when Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag was in charge, has been linked with a reunion with his former manager. United aren't the only Premier League club linked with the Serie A star, though.
Liverpool are also in the mix for the 26-year-old as they look for reinforcements amid the loss of several midfielders themselves. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho both look destined for the Saudi Pro League, following the departures of others including James Milner, but Fiorentina are yet to receive a concrete bid for Amrabat.
"He [Amrabat] is also very attached to the team and to me too, we speak in English and we talk almost every day," Fiorentina general manager Joe Barone told Sky Sport Italy (via Metro ). "At the moment nothing official has arrived, I told him to come here concentrated because he is a Fiorentina player.
"He must have his head here and be ready for the start of the league, then if something comes we’ll evaluate it. We have an already very strong midfield department."
Marcel Sabitzer completes Man Utd transfer after last-minute deadline day dashFiorentina reached the final of last season's Europa Conference League, losing to West Ham, and will take part in the competition again this term. The Viola have already lost a number of members of last season's squad, while centre-back Igor is also being linked with a Premier League switch with Fulham among those interested.

Reports of renewed interest from Liverpool comes despite the Reds spending £100m on new midfielders already this summer. Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have both moved to Anfield, though the departures far outnumber the new additions.
United, meanwhile, have budget considerations at play after landing Mason Mount and Andre Onana. However, they could yet raise funds with the sale of fringe players, amid interest in the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred.
Ten Hag has already shown a fondness for bringing in players he has worked with in the past. The latest example is goalkeeper Onana, a star under the Dutchman at Ajax, who has joined after a successful spell in Italy with Inter.
"Manchester United has a long history of incredible goalkeepers, and I will now give everything to create my own legacy in the coming years," the Cameroon international said after completing his move to Old Trafford. "I am excited by the opportunity to work again with Erik ten Hag, and I can’t wait to play my part in the success I know he is determined to deliver at this great football club.”
