A new wax figure of Ed Sheeran has been unveiled in Germany and looks very similar to the real Ed!

The like-life impression of the English singer-songwriter, created by Lisa Büscher, made its official debut at the Panoptikum Museum in Hamburg on Thursday. Supported by a dedicated team, the Berlin-based artist had been working on the impressive sculpture - which is also her first wax project - since autumn.

Speaking to the media after the finished model was revealed, Büscher admitted that it was "challenging" for her to use the slippy material. She also described the process of designing "Ed Sheeran's many tattoos" as an "intricate and time-consuming feature of the project."

From Ed's famous red hair and beard to his icy blue eyes, the wax creation looks undeniably similar to the physical traits of the 32-year-old musician. Büscher has also nailed the Perfect singer's wardrobe, styling him in a black t-shirt over a long-sleeved white top, baggy jeans and red high-top sneakers.

As for accessories, Ed is kitted out with a black wristband, a black watch, and of course, an acoustic Little Martin guitar slung casually over his shoulder.

Büscher has also clearly put a huge amount of effort into skilfully recreating his colourful tattoos, which can be seen inked on both of his forearms. "Every very tattoo has a special meaning for him," she added.

Ed's waxwork in Hamburg will be positioned in the museum's 'British triangle', which also holds a waxwork of Adele and Queen Elizabeth II.

A heatwave that struck Germany in the days before the unveiling made the transport of Büscher's creation, which would melt at high temperatures, to Hamburg difficult. She revealed that she was worried that the wax would suffer on the car journey, admitting to being relieved when the sculpture arrived in the museum in perfect condition.

Other Ed Sheeran wax figures can be found at the New York, London and Blackpool branches of Madame Tussauds.

The Grammy-winner even posed with his waxy doppelganger in the Big Apple, taking to Instagram to joke, "Met my waxwork at Madame Tussaud, he didn’t say much but he’s got a bulge so it’s all good."

The Panoptikum museum is also home to waxworks of former US president Barack Obama, Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe and Angela Merkel, Former Chancellor of Germany.
