Ellie Goulding claims Niall Horan 'cheating' claims caused 'a lot of trauma'
Ellie Goulding has said the rumours that she cheated on Ed Sheeran with Irish heartthrob Niall Horan were not true and caused her "a lot of trauma".
The hitmaker, 36, and Ed, 32, sparked romance rumours back in 2013 after they were pictured holding hands with one another at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
But despite this sending the rumour mill into overdrive, the alleged romance was soon dogged by claims that the Starry Eyed singer had cheated on Ed with Niall.
These rumours were sparked following the release of Ed's 2014 single, Don't, which included the lyrics "I never saw him as a threat (Get lost), until you disappeared with him to have sex, of course."
While Ellie had remained tightlipped, she recently addressed the allegations on TikTok and exclaimed: "False!!!!" after they resurfaced online.
Ed Sheeran says 'turbulent things' have happened in personal life in rare videoNow, the mother-of-one has broken her silence over THAT comment and claims she may not have been entirely sober when she took to the video-sharing app.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said: "I think I was really drunk when I wrote that, yeah.
"It's fascinating how many people are interested in that, it happened nine years ago.
"You know, completely honestly, it caused me a huge amount of... Stress is not the word –t caused me a lot of trauma, actually"
Ellie went on to tell the publication that she was envious of the fact her friends were able to live their wildest dreams in their 20s "having flings and one-night stands" but she struggled and was made to "feel like a terrible person" as her moves were scrutinised.
However, in 2015, Ellie addressed her relationship with Niall, telling Elle UK that she went on a "few dates" with the Heaven singer but had no relationship with Sheeran.
"I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing," she told the publication.
Nowadays, the singer remains relatively private about her life behind closed doors and her marriage to Caspar Jopling while Niall also remains quiet over his relationship with Amelia Woolley.
While on an Australian radio show, Niall joked he was a "taken man, the game is over" before singing his lyrics "God only knows," from his new single, Heaven when asked if Amelia Woolley was "the one".
The Irish singer appears to have dropped hints about his romance in his new single, saying he is "beyond infatuation" and "obsessively adores" his beau.
