Conor McGregor was forced to sheepishly ask UFC boss Dana White what happens if he loses every fight as coach on The Ultimate Fighter after yet another defeat.

The legendary former world champion has gone 0-7 as a coach against rival Michael Chandler, and faces an unprecedented whitewash if he loses next week. He faces exactly that prospect as his No.4 seed Rico DiSciullo faces Chandler's No.1 seed and arguably the most dangerous bantamweight in the tournament Hunter Azure.

And after a fiery confrontation with Chandler after his close friend Lee Hammond was submitted last week, the Irishman was a much more composed figure following this week's defeat. When Jason Knight submitted Landon Quinones within a minute, he celebrated by cheering that his team needed "one more" win to go 8-0.

McGregor seemed baffled by the realisation that he was facing a sweep, and scurried across the cage to ask show boss Dana White would happen if that were to occur. The promoter seemed completely at a loss for words, having never seen such a series of results in the previous 30 seasons of the show.

Executive producer Gary DeFranco noted that "it's never happened before," before offering the solution that some fighters will be asked to switch teams. It's likely McGregor would have no problem convincing Brad Katona to switch teams, given their relationship at SBG Ireland, but it will be awkward for the other fighters, whom he has slammed on multiple occasions.

A preview for next week's episode showed an angry McGregor tell Chandler's team of UFC veterans who are getting a second chance at being cut from the promotion that they were "here today, gone tomorrow". And it remains to be seen how exactly he would work with them if there was a shake-up in the line-ups for the semi-finals.

It is expected that the McGregor and Chandler season will conclude with the pair finally announcing a date for their highly-anticipated grudge fight. The Irishman hasn't competed in over two years since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in a trilogy in July of 2021, and has yet to register with the US Anti-Doping Agency who need a six month period in the testing pool.

However, there are still hopes that he can be granted an exemption once he returns two negative tests. If so, he and Chandler would likely fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on December 16; the same venue where he suffered his horror injury against Poirier at UFC 264.
