BBC viewers complained minutes into Michael McIntyre's The Wheel as they urged the broadcaster to make a change to the quiz show's format.

Viewers of the comedian-fronted quiz show took to Twitter to air their frustrations on Saturday night after spotting a "problem" with the show.

The gameshow involves contestants being chosen at random before taking on a colossal spinning wheel and answering questions with the hope of winning a big cash prize, with the help of celebrity advice.

Each celebrity has their own expert topic with Chris Moyles on breakfast radio, Clare Balding on Wimbledon, Josh Widdicombe on Neighbours, Yung Filly on YouTube, Frankie Bridge on girl groups, Owain Wyn Evans on weather and Rustie Lee on food.

During Saturday's episode, Avani took to the big seat ready to win a huge cash prize but it wasn't long before she was sent away again.

The contestant was asked a question on girlband Little Mix but was unable to ask The Saturdays star Frankie as she had answered a previous question incorrectly.

Avani asked Owain for advice but they got the question incorrect however, the contestant immediately returned for a second chance as the randomiser selected her again.

BBC viewers fumed and demanded the quiz show step in to stop the same contestant from returning for consecutive rounds.

One tweeted: "The major problem with #TheWheel is that the same contestant can keep coming up for consecutive rounds - it happened last week as well ... #TheWheel."

Another fan replied: "Agree it would be a generally better show if they excluded the chance of same person coming up twice #thewheel."

"Avani's defo doing "favours' for the director. #TheWheel," a third joked while another suggested the player would return again after losing out for a second time: "Bye, Avani. See you in a sec... #TheWheel."

Meanwhile, other BBC viewers were not happy with the broadcaster airing a repeat of the Saturday night gameshow.

One tweeted: "@BBCOne Great use of license fee money putting on a repeat of #thewheel at prime time. Netflix to the rescue," while another fumed: "It's a really poor show when they put on a repeat on Saturday night. Cmon @bbc #bbc #thewheel."
