Warzone 2’s long-awaited Season 2 update has finally arrived, and so have the inevitable bugs; first up to be squashed is players' controls getting locked if they revive a downed teammate.

Warzone 2 Season 2 dropped this week and players were excited to drop into the new Resurgence map – Ashika Island – for the first time, as well as checking the Warzone 2 Season 2 patch notes to see if the dreaded Fennec 45 has finally been nerfed. But sadly, some players soon discovered that reviving their squadmates could come at the cost of freezing their controls, thus ruining a match. This glitch seems to be affecting players on all platforms.

But thankfully, it was short-lived with Raven Software updating the issue on its Trello board last night, by the looks of things. Since it was flagged, the studio said it was "investigating an issue causing some Players [sic] to get stuck when attempting to Revive [sic] teammates”.

You can see the bug in action over on Reddit, where players were quick to point out glitch. User QueenLa3fah saying “Anyone else encounter a new glitch where reviving someone (particularly if they are in the storm) causes you to freeze”. They also mentioned that this had happened to them “multiple times today with different squad members too”. So far, the only fix seems to be abandoning the match in progress entirely, which obviously isn’t helpful.

The comments were filled with users who had also encountered the issue, like BananLarsi who said “Happened to my teammates actually, I just thought they decided to go AFK in the final circle”. Elsewhere in the thread user billabong2121 theorised that it may have something to do with reviving while prone, claiming that the two times it happened to them, they were prone.

Obviously game development is extremely hard, and you can likely never point out a live service game – like Warzone 2 – that hasn’t been subject to countless glitches. It’s just really unfortunate that the bug in question this time is one that could bring out the absolute worst in players.

Playing in a squad with random players is bad enough already; it feels like every time you load in you get paired up with some idiot who thinks they're Rambo and can take on four-man teams alone and leave the rest of you in the lurch. It’s a big part of the reason I was never too keen on Apex Legends. So when there's a prominent glitch that could freeze you up for reviving teammates, you can expect the playerbase to become even less helpful.

The new Resurgence mode is only playable in Squads at the moment, so it was extremely unfortunate timing for a glitch that punishes good teamwork. Luckily it was sorted fairly quickly, so there's no excuse for abandoning downed teammates now!.
