Warzone 2 Season 2 has finally arrived, and it's introduced a new Resurgence map – Ashika Island – that offers a smaller arena to get down and dirty in if you're done with Al Mazrah.

After an almost four-month wait, Resurgence has made its return in Warzone 2 Season 2. The fast-paced game mode turns the battle royale on its head by letting squad members respawn as long as one member remains in the land of the living. It's a nice alternative to the punishing one-and-done style seen in Warzone 2's regular battle royale mode.

After leaving players with no Resurgence map at launch, the Season 2 update has finally introduced one with Ashika Island, which we got our first peek at last month. The Warzone 2 Season 2 patch notes have given us some extra insight into Ashika Island's POIs and we'll cover all of the currently available information on them below.

Warzone 2 Resurgence map: Ashika Island

Ashika Island is the smaller, fast-paced Resurgence map for Warzone 2 and is made up of seven main POIs, that are further broken down into smaller areas.

There's a variety on offer here that should cater to a number of playstyles but I'm sure we'll soon hear complaints about players not being able to camp, or whatever the bugbear is, as everyone dives in today.

Oganikku Farms

This POI makes up the northwestern sector of Ashika Island. There are three main areas:

  • Lookout and Ruins
  • North Beach
  • Greenhouses

There's a variety of environments in this area, with the Greenhouses section featuring loads of buildings and cover, which could lead to some thrilling closer-range encounters. But as you get into the Lookout and Ruins, and North Beach sections, that cover quickly disappears, giving snipers a perfect opportunity to pick people off, particularly if they're escaping the storm.

Talking of snipers, there's a Comms Tower at the far northwest edge of the island, which could be tempting for those who want a good vantage point, with ruins below offering at least some cover for marauding players.

Town Center

Town Center is one of the more in-depth areas of the island, boasting 11 sub-areas:

  • North Sea Wall
  • Ferry Terminal
  • Tourist Center Building
  • Event Center Building
  • Gas Station
  • Science Center
  • River Channel and Bridges
  • South Sea Wall and Floating Gas Station
  • Market District and Hotel
  • Gas Station
  • Town Hall

This area is sure to be a hot drop area, thanks to the sheer size of the location, which offers something for everyone. There are buildings, bridges, water, docks, wall defences and even a submarine canal, with connecting roads, linking it nicely with the rest of the map.

There are even some gas stations for players to repair and refuel their vehicles, one on the land and one floating in the bay, for those who need instant service. There's a good mix of building types in this area too, with the Tourist Center, Event Center and Science Centre buildings offering good viewing angles to other areas, which could also lead to some great internal gun battles.

Beach Club

Beach Club is made up of four smaller areas:

  • Aquarium
  • Beach Club and Bath House
  • Beach and Observation Point
  • Demolition Site

If you're dropping in via a parachute, this POI is easily navigable from the skies thanks to its vivid walkways of aquamarine blue, which fit the vibe of the club located in the southwesternmost corner of the map.

Interestingly, the Beach Club doesn't boast as much actual beach as you'd think, with the POI being dominated by the large Aquarium and Beach Club buildings, which also feature a barbecue area with some handy cover opportunities.

One of the most interesting locations in this area can be seen in the Observation Point building, which can be accessed by a bridge or by swimming, with Activision teasing some hidden secrets below its floating spiral staircase.

Tsuki Castle

An ancient Japanese castle stands in the centre of Ashika Island. Expect a lot of action here as it's the main attraction in terms of location and aesthetics, and will surely be the ultimate hot drop area on this map.

Not only does it look cool, but it also seems packed to the gills with areas ripe for close-ranged firefights, like the Main Stronghold and the Waterways. Tsuki Castle is broken down into five areas:

  • Main Stronghold
  • Northwest Battlements (SAM Batteries)
  • North Museum Grounds
  • Southeast Gardens
  • Waterways (Submarine Base)

This area is all action, with gunfight potential on the rooftops, on ground level, in buildings and even underground, with the Waterways area being a submarine base filled with tunnels and the new jet ski vehicles. Snipers will feel right at home running along the rooftops and finding areas of cover, but it's likely that the inside of the wonderful emerald green buildings will be where most of the action is, and there are loads of secret passages and hiding spots to discover.

Port Ashika

Similar to the Town Center, there's a strong mix of buildings and open water areas to switch up combat in Port Ashika, which is comprised of the following areas:

  • Humpback Bridge
  • Dockside and Warehouses
  • Canal: River Channel and Control
  • Ashika Bay and Floating Gas Station
  • Gas Station
  • Mechanics Yard and Oil Vats
  • Rocky Bluffs

The POI also features a canal entrance to the submarine base located under the Tsuki Castle, for those who want to storm the central location without being detected on ground level.

There are also many bridges alongside the road canal, with large warehouses and control buildings on either side, with a floating gas station just off the coast.

Residential

You can't have a Warzone Resurgence map without a dedicated apartment building area, to fight inside or snipe off the top, and thankfully, Residential has you covered. The POI is home to:

  • Apartments
  • Power Plant
  • Water Treatment Facility
  • Residential District

Buildings, buildings and more buildings scale this area, with each building having numerous vertical levels, full of loot, contracts and most probably, enemy players who enjoy camping just a bit too much.

Shipwreck

Ashika Island's hazardous shoreline spelt doom for two cargo tankers, which have made for a cool area for the Warzone 2 Resurgence map. Aside from the ships themselves, there's Clifftop Demolition for players who want to pick off people on the beach. Here are the POI's:

  • Containers
  • Clifftop Demolition
  • Lookout Point and Gas Station

I haven't had the chance to drop into Ashika Island yet, but even from the outside, it looks like a great map, with plenty of zones and opportunities for any play style.
