Noel Gallagher says 'long drawn out divorce' has impacted his new album
Noel Gallagher has revealed how his recent divorce has affected his upcoming album.
The former frontman split from his second wife Sara MacDonald in January, after 12 years of marriage. He has now spoken out about how the high-profile separation, which comes 22 years after the couple first met, has impacted his new musical material.

“Divorce is a long, drawn-out process, so it affects the mood of the album, for sure,” the 56-year-old said of album Council Skies.
Teasing what fans could expect, he explained it would be a mix of both solemn and cheerful sounds.

Noel went on to open up about how his personal life has inspired his music, adding: “When you’re an artist you write about what you know.”
He also acknowledged that he doesn’t “really have much to say about life in general”, admitting, “I don’t really give a f**k about most things I see on the news. So when things happen in your life that you can articulate, I tend to jump on them, and it makes for better art and it helps you come to terms with it.'
Noel and Scottish publicist Sara first began dating in June 2000, after meeting at iconic Ibiza superclub, Space. At the time, the Pretty Boy singer was already married to British interior designer Meg Matthews. The pair called it quits on their four-year-long matrimony, however, in January 2001, just one year after welcoming daughter Anaïs Gallagher.

Noel and Sara tied the knot in June 2011, exchanging vows in a private wedding ceremony at the Lime Wood Hotel in New Forest National Park. They also share two sons, 16-year-old Donovan Rory, and 13-year-old Sonny Patrick.
A spokesperson for the couple confirmed their divorce on January 14 via a short statement.
“Noel and Sara will together continue to look after their children who remain their priority,” they said, before adding that the VIP duo “ask the media to respect their privacy and that of our family at this time.”
Noel has previously expressed how the COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted his personal life, admitting to the that he developed unhealthy habits to cope with the monotony of lockdown.
“I’d sit around all day, waiting to get p***ed at like, f***ing five o’clock,” he said. “Everybody’s life had come to a bit of a standstill.”
