A woman is livid with her mother-in-law after she asked her husband to take her to a doctor's appointment just hours after their baby was born.

The relative had been asked by her doctor if she could come in to have some tests done before an appointment and was upset her son did not drive her, despite the fact he was spending time with his wife and newborn baby.

The mum had gone into hospital to have her scheduled caesarean but after only three hours with the baby, her mother-in-law started making a scene and asked to leave - which left her husband fuming.

Taking to Reddit, the woman explained that when the mother-in-law's doctor phoned, she passed the phone to her husband who told them she would be unable to go in as her grandchild had just been born.

But the in-law would not let it go and was upset her son would not take her, despite him being with his newborn.

In the post, the woman, who remained anonymous, wrote: "It had barely been three hours since her birth and we are in the recovery room bonding.

"She gets a phone call from her doctor stating that in order for her to have the phone appointment she apparently has tomorrow, she needed to come in today to get blood work done."

She added that her husband then spoke to her doctor and explained that his mum's grandchild had just been born so she could not get in for the tests that day as nobody could take her. He then hung up and told his mum he could not drive her.

"She kept asking my husband why he couldn’t just take her. He explained 'mum, you know what today is right? I need to be here' and she was angry and left the room," explained the mum.

"I should add: I’m sure this blood work was not sprung on her today, so she likely knew she would have needed to get it done. I was both frustrated she would dare hand him the phone right in the room where I’m bonding with our baby, and upset she put him in this situation.

"I was proud he straight up told her "No” but also it put him in a bad mood and that also frustrated me. This woman apparently doesn’t realise just how selfish and inconsiderate she is."

In response many sided with the woman and her husband and said the in-law was being inconsiderate.

One person wrote: "She could have easily pushed her doctors appointment to later. Do less contact with her."

While another stated: "She is entirely in the wrong, not because she isn’t getting her blood work done at that hospital, but because she probably knew she needed it done and engineered a situation where she would intentionally put her son in the middle and manipulate him away from his wife and newborn."
