Manchester United have closed the gap on title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City thanks to a win over Leeds on Sunday.

But Erik ten Hag's attention will now turn to the Europa League, where United will face Barcelona in the first leg of their knockout tie on Thursday. But Ten Hag has lost a second star man as he looks to prepare his side for the trip to the Nou Camp.

That blow comes with Elon Musk considering submitting a bid to buy the club from the Glazers and Gary Neville delivered his final verdict on United's chances of winning the title. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest United news.

Ten Hag suffers double Barca blow

With a huge Europa League clash coming on Thursday, United could have done without suffering a second blow to their selection. That has come after Erik ten Hag received confirmation that Marcel Sabitzer will be suspended for the trip to Spain.

Sabitzer was booked three times in the Champions League group stages, while he was with Bayern Munich. That will carry over to his new club and the second-tier European competition, meaning the midfielder will be forced to sit out Thursday's game.

The loss of Sabitzer comes with Lisandro Martinez also ruled out of the game through suspension. The Argentine defender was booked three times in the group stages and will be unavailable against Barca.

Neville delivers title verdict

Gary Neville has shot down United's hopes of challenging Arsenal or Manchester City in the title race. The Red Devils are just two points off City and five point behind the Gunners, but Neville believes Ten Hag's eyes are on other trophies.

“I genuinely don’t think they are in the Premier League title race. If he thought he could win the Premier League he would obviously prioritise that so I think even he’s thinking the title is beyond them," he said.

"He got away with it today and it’s worked but I just don’t think they can win the Premier League. They have got so many games and I just don’t think they’re at the level of Man City and Arsenal right now.”

Musk 'considers' takeover bid

Billionaire Elon Musk is understood to be weighing up a takeover bid for United, with the deadline for submissions approaching. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, owner of Ineos, and a consortium from Qatar are among those also in the race.

And Musk is now considering throwing his hat in the ring, with the opportunity potentially too good to pass up. The American would easily be able to afford the Glazers' asking price, with a net worth in the region of £157billion.

Musk, who owns Tesla, Space X and Twitter, has previously joked that he would be buying the Red Devils. But it appears he could now firm up that interest, with United on the market.
