Three men, cream horns and giant sausages were always going to prove a recipe for immaturity.

So The Great British Bake Off host Prue Leith is looking forward to having another female in the mix when the “charming and funny” Alison Hammond joins as a presenter.

She hopes Alison will help raise the tone, after she found former host Matt Lucas would join remaining presenter Noel Fielding and her fellow judge Paul Hollywood littering the tent with innuendos.

The show was made famous for jokes about soggy bottoms from original hosts Mel and Sue, but judge Prue says having three men on the show sent the suggestive quips into overdrive.

“They just behave like complete lunatics,” she laughs. “I never get the jokes, you know... all this stuff about innuendo and things. I feel I’m really glad Alison’s coming, cause at least she’s a woman and she’ll be a little more sensible.

“Those three men, they’re like three children,” she added, speaking to Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett on their Dish podcast (MUST). “The word sausage puts them into...”

Unfortunately, she didn’t manage to finish the sentence and Nick and Angela descended into fits of giggles.

Lowering the tone right down to the soggy bottom.
