Toilets are one of the most gruelling appliances to clean in your home. It can often feel unhygienic, look unpleasant and get messy quickly, filling you with dread each time you tackle it.

Thankfully, a cleaning expert has shared an inexpensive £2 hack that's going to leave your toilet sparkling and showroom ready every time.

Taking to popular video-streaming service TikTok, Amber Elise - who boasts more than 400,000 followers on @bubblesandbuckets - shared her vital steps to 'deep clean a toilet'.

Vowing to make 'life easier', she broke down the steps and recommended people start by reading the small print on their disinfectant.

She explained: "Your first step is to read your instructions on your disinfectant. Most of the time it needs to sit visibly wet on the surface for five to ten minutes before it can fully disinfect.

"So, what I recommend is spraying down your toilet and then going to clean your bathtub or your sink while you give it time to disinfect.

"Always clean your toilet from top to bottom and I prefer using paper towels because toilets get a little messy and I can just toss the paper when I'm done with it.

"I like to remove the toilet seat. A lot of icky things can get stuck in those little areas that you can't see and can cause an odour," she added.

Amber explained that you should neve forget about cleaning behind the toilet, including the water hook up, the baseboard, and even the wall.

This is where her expertise comes into play as she recommends purchasing a bottle of shaving cream.

"If you have any odours coming from the base of your toilet, you can put some shaving cream there, let it sit for about ten minutes," she said.

"Wipe it up and it should help absorb any odour."

People can purchase shaving cream from as little as £2 from their local Boots store.

Since Amber shared her game-changing life hack, her video has been flooded with hundreds of responses - with over 500 people rushing to the comments to praise her expertise.

One person wrote: "Thank you!!! There has been an odour in our bathroom and I couldn't figure it out! I'm trying the shaving cream!"
