The first game for the PS Plus April 2023 lineup has been revealed earlier than usual, and it’s a day one launch of a brand new multiplayer title.

Behaviour Interactive – the creators of the mega-popular Dead By Daylight (and more importantly, the PS1 classic Bugs Bunny & Taz: Time Busters) – has revealed that its newest game Meet Your Maker will be launching on PS4 and PS5 as a part of the PS Plus Essential lineup day one on Tuesday, April 4. The game – which is also releasing on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X |S – is described by the publisher as a “post-apocalyptic first-person building-and-raiding game”.

Playing out like a twisted version of Super Mario Maker, Meet Your Maker has you construct outposts filled with traps, guards, and other obstacles for players to deal with as they try to perform a heist for your ‘genetic materials’. Meanwhile, you’ll also have the chance to raid other players' outposts in tense first-person shooter gameplay. But you don’t have to go it alone, you can collaborate with friends to make a truly messed up death-trap for players or bring a pal along for an outpost that's beating you down.

Justin Fragapane – Lead Content Strategist at Behaviour Interactive – said in a Playstation Blog post that the game will arrive on PS Plus day one as part of the April 2023 Essential games lineup. He went on to say “Meet Your Maker’s focus on user-generated content makes this release extra special for us”.

Super Meet-yo Maker

As someone who had never heard of Meet Your Maker before today, this looks like the perfect type of game for PS Plus. Not only is it a great idea for a game, but the added bonus of it being free for a majority of PlayStation users is an extremely smart move for a game built around user generated content.

Obviously a game's success is hard to predict – I for one would’ve never guessed that Dead By Daylight would become such a big hit – but I can see this game blowing up if everything goes well. As someone who has spent countless hours making levels, playing levels, and watching YouTube content around Super Mario Maker, I’m intrigued by Meet Your Maker.

There's been no word yet on what games will be joining Meet Your Maker in the PS Plus April 2023 Essential games lineup, but you won't have to wait long as Sony typically announces them on the last Wednesday of the month before they release the following Tuesday. So, we’ll update you on Wednesday March 29! Until then you can still get the PS Plus March 2023 free games
