Liverpool's season is on life support after a dire defeat to Wolves saw their winless run in the Premier League extend to four games.

The Reds were unable to recover from conceding two goals in the opening 12 minutes at Molineux. Jamie Carragher pointed the finger of blame at Liverpool's depleted defence for the latest reverse for Jurgen Klopp's men.

That blast came as Premier League rivals Wolves mocked the German for his post-match comments after the defeat and Klopp's future as Liverpool boss was called into question by Arsenal legend Ian Wright. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool news.

Carragher slams Reds defence

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has slammed the Reds for their "shambolic" defending against Wolves. Star centre-back Virgil van Dijk has been ruled out of their last three Premier League games with a hamstring injury.

The Dutchman is set to return to training next week, but in his absence, the Reds have failed to win a league game. And Carragher believes their problems stem from the other members of their defence failing to step up in Van Dijk's absence.

He labelled Liverpool "shambolic" in the aftermath of the defeat to Wolves on Saturday. And he criticised the likes of Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate for failing to deal adequately with Van Dijk's absence.

Wolves mock Klopp

Wolves have brutally mocked Jurgen Klopp after the Liverpool boss bizarrely claimed their third goal on Saturday "did not count". Klopp insisted that he was not counting Ruben Neves' strike because it was one of the few times Wolves attacked in the second-half.

"The third goal I don't count because it was the first time they passed the halfway line in the second half. The other two goals, going into a game with all the things we said during the week and before the game then this start is horrible," the German said.

In response, Wolves published a 'full-time' graphic on social media in which they crossed out Neves' name in the scorers' section. They also changed the scoreline from 3-0 to 2-0 to match Klopp's comments.

Klopp's future called into question

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has called Jurgen Klopp's future at Liverpool into question. Wright insisted the Reds were in "limbo" amid their winless run and admitted his doubts about Klopp's current command of his team.

"I can't explain it. You have to say, can he get this team going again? Are they responding to him? It doesn't look like they are responding to him," Wright told Match of the Day.

"It's the kind of thing where you're thinking, can they have a reset this season, write this season off and sort it out in the summer. It seems like at the moment, they're in limbo."
