Kate Garraway has shown her support for Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

The Good Morning Britain presenter worked alongside Ben for over two decades and said goodbye to her colleague earlier this month when it emerged he was leaving the breakfast programme in order to front This Morning. At the time, Garraway, 56, took to social media to show her support.

But the Mirror revealed earlier today that she had been liking a string of comments hitting out at ITV for giving the job to Cat Deeley and not herself alongside Ben, with many claiming that it should be Kate on the famous sofa. Now, the broadcaster has shared a snap of Cat and Ben on This Morning as their first week on the programme drew to a close.

Captioning her upload, Kate penned: "Congratulations #bencat!!! What a fantastic first week of shows on @TM - never in doubt but fab to see - you two were made for the show! @catdeeley can’t wait to give you a congratulatory hug in person when on the show very soon xxx #perfectpairing."

Her followers appeared to agree with Kate, with one penning: "I really like cat and Ben. They are really down to earth and not too fluffy which is what the show needed." "Well done you were both brilliant," said a second. Meanwhile, another penned: "What I've see of them they've done great. A breath of fresh air." "Very natural and a great partnership," commented another fan.

Ben and Cat took over from previous hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield who both stepped down from the position last year. Speaking about taking the job, Ben said last month: "This really feels like a very special moment for Cat and I to be part of the next chapter of This Morning.

"It's an honour to be trusted with the reigns, join Alison and Dermot and all the team that work on and off screen and do such a great job. For the last ten years, I've been waking up with our ITV daytime audience on GMB and I now look forward to spending time with Cat, welcoming the viewers home after the school run or from their early morning routines, with a cup of tea and a mix of everything that makes This Morning so loved."

While Cat added that she and Ben would do their "best to take care of it."
